Katie Holmes Reportedly Sending Suri to Catholic School: Is It Better Than Scientology?

Call it another victory for Katie Holmes ... Suri Cruise will start school in September at Manhattan's Convent of the Sacred Heart, a fancy-shmancy private all-girls school in New York City, E! News reports.

suri

At the $38,000-a-year school, the previously home-schooled Suri will attend Catholic mass every Thursday. Past graduates of the elite school include Lady Gaga, Nicky Hilton and Caroline Kennedy.

Clearly, mama Katie Holmes, who reportedly got primary custody of the 6-year-old in the divorce, is calling the shots here. Papa Tom Cruise's religion, Scientology, seems to be completely off the menu. Holmes was raised Catholic, and so, in fact, was Cruise. Do you think the school is a good choice for Suri Cruise?

Scientology is a cult, not a religion...

So yes, Catholicism is definitely better. Better still, Catholicism (and I'm agnostic, raised Protestant) is a Christian faith which actually recognizes science (i.e. they accept evolution as factual science).

Okay sure, there are lots of good priests. My point was to say that there are bad Catholics too, some of whom are way worse than all the celebrity Scientologists. Plus, Catholicism and Scientology are ideas or belief systems, not just the people who follow them, and between two (in my opinion) equally ridiculous fairy tales there really isn't such a thing as one being "better" than the other.

Well, I'm Catholic, so of course I think this answer is the better option.

I will say, though, Suri probably belongs in a school rather than isolated at home. This seems like a good move to me. I don't think that children of any faith, however, should be forced into situations they are uncomfortable with. I say do what's best for the girl. Religion isn't a priority.

The Bible tells us what to look for... by their fruits we shall know them. Catholics have destroyed more lives and created more wars than any other religion. They hide the truth of Jesus' fullfillment in the law and make people believe they need a priest to tell their sins too... for money at that.

Everyone seems to be hung up on the Catholic Church having money! I did work for the St Vincent De Paul Society, and certainly tried to help so many with some of it! The Catholic Charities are sometimes on the scene of a disaster before the Red Cross! You can receive forgivness of sins many ways, not just through confession! (taught by the catholic church) MEN have destroyed lives, and created wars! (regardless of religion)

In Catholicism, Mother Mary and the Saints follows your every movement.

In Scientology, Mormon lookalikes follows your every movement in an SUVs. Occasionally taking pictures from their camera phones, and recording what you do.

That's not exactly true, Mary and saints don't follow you, they're dead, please provide scripture to prove they follow your every movement.
This is one of the many problems I have with Catholicism...

Once a saint dies, they become ubiquitous, so they don't "follow you around," It would be more accurate to say, "they are everywhere."

Must be in the Catholic Bible because I've never read it anywhere in the actual Bible,
I believe in praying with living saints not dead one, I believe praying with dead saints {who can do nothing for you} is the same as praying to them making them another god, same thing with putting Mary mother of Jesus up there, God chose her.
I only talk directly to God, I have a direct line to Him, none of this needing a priest to absolve my sins which they can't do, Only Jesus can do that which I can actually go {again} directly to Him...

Actually - I see both her parents in her. My son is the splitting image of his dad - also as a baby. I have their baby pictures framed side by side. I don't see any of me in him - but many people think we share quite a resemblance.

As to "neither being better" - it was obviously the intention of the person who created this poll to rig the poll because of their personal bias. Regardless, the poll is based on a fallacy- since there are no schools that teach the Scientology religion to 6 year olds, anyway! (LOL).

Even though I don't agree with a lot of what Catholicism teaches at least it doesn't try to separate people from friends and family and have hidden headquarters while being more cryptic than Stonehenge and the universe itself.

This is a ridiculous poll for many reasons:

    1) Not enough options (which is obviously the pollster's intent - as he/she knows how the statistics will pan out by limiting the options). So this poll is obviously rigged.

    2) The entire poll is based on a fallacy - because to my knowledge THERE ARE NO SCHOOLS FOR 5-6 YEAR OLDS THAT TEACH THE SCIENTOLOGY RELIGION! (LOL)

Many Scientologists send their children to public schools. I know some who have sent their children to Christian schools. Many send them to private schools. My children went to an accredited private school, one that I chose for the strong academics and excellent reputation in preparing the students for college. In order for the children to learn about Scientology, they take classes at the nearest church - after they learn to read and read well -- and only if they are interested.

Obviously, whoever created this ludicrous poll is not only biased, but has not done their homework. Hmmm...makes me think that they probably didn't do their homework while they were in school, either.

However, there are indeed Scientology schools. http://exscientologykids.com/...

Also, age six is when kids can start to be "audited" and subject to the "Sec[urity] Check for Children", which is done on a device that Scientologists believe functions as a lie detector.
