Katie Holmes Reportedly Sending Suri to Catholic School: Is It Better Than Scientology?

Call it another victory for Katie Holmes ... Suri Cruise will start school in September at Manhattan's Convent of the Sacred Heart, a fancy-shmancy private all-girls school in New York City, E! News reports.

suri

At the $38,000-a-year school, the previously home-schooled Suri will attend Catholic mass every Thursday. Past graduates of the elite school include Lady Gaga, Nicky Hilton and Caroline Kennedy.

Clearly, mama Katie Holmes, who reportedly got primary custody of the 6-year-old in the divorce, is calling the shots here. Papa Tom Cruise's religion, Scientology, seems to be completely off the menu. Holmes was raised Catholic, and so, in fact, was Cruise. Do you think the school is a good choice for Suri Cruise?

Scientology is a cult, not a religion...

So yes, Catholicism is definitely better. Better still, Catholicism (and I'm agnostic, raised Protestant) is a Christian faith which actually recognizes science (i.e. they accept evolution as factual science).

I'm remarking upon the fact that the people that I've met that attended Catholic institutions usually have many more problems than someone who attended public school.

catholic parents who can afford the tuition often send their children to catholic school she's probably trying to get all that scientology mumbo jumbo cleared out of the childs head.

Soda Head management intentionally rigged the poll so that it would fall in favor of Catholicism. They obviously didn't want Atheists or Agnostics to have a voice and they also knew the majority of folks on SH were probably Catholic or Christian - and that the Scientologists were very, very few in number. Think about it - by providing only those 2 options - they were making Atheists, Agnostics, Muslims, Pagans, and even Jews choose in favor of Catholicism! I think that is highly offensive and unethical for them to have created a poll so tainted.

The other point is that to my knowledge - there are no schools that teach the Scientology religion to 6 year olds. There are schools that teach academics using the study methods that Hubbard came up with - but that has absolutely nothing to do with the religion. Therefore, the entire basis of the poll is a fallacy.

I applaud you for going against the grain and thinking independently.

she's probably trying to unbrainwash the kid, lead her on a fruitful path. Im not saying I support all that comes with Catholicism but I am a Christian and I respect it.

It's no better or worse. They should teach the child to think for herself. Expose her to all philosophies when she's old enough to understand and let her decide for herself where her faith and beliefs lie.

I'm willing to bet that the Catholic school doesn't use "Study Tech", a Scientology-created education technique. Scientologists make many unsubstantiated claims about the effectiveness of Study Tech:

    http://studytech.org/study-te...

It is arguably intended primarily as a Scientology indoctrination tool:
