She may have taken total control of her personal life but Katie Holmes doesn’t seem to be able to get it together when it comes to her career. Her Broadway play “Dead Accounts” will end its run early, after just 27 preview shows and 44 performances.

But this isn’t the first professional misstep for Tom Cruise’s ex. Since “Dawson’s Creek” ended in 2003, follow-up success has eluded her. And her whirlwind love affair, quick marriage and out-of-the-blue divorce from the mega-star proved to only making her gossip column fodder rather than upping her acting cred. Disappointing turns in high profile projects like “Batman Begins” and “The Kennedys” only added insult to vocational injury.

Being one of the former "Mrs. Cruises" isn’t necessarily career suicide. Wife No. 2, Nicole Kidman, went on to win an Oscar after her split from her leading man. So far, those kinds of accolades have been going to Holmes’ “Creek” co-star Michelle Williams.

But maybe she needs to take a page from another old friend from Capeside and take a stab at self-deprecating humor. It’s worked to give James Van Der Beek a boost thanks to “Don’t Trust the B— in Apt. 23.” If Holmes could learn to laugh at herself, it might go a long way with fans. What do you think? Yes, I believe it all depends on what she wants, she may want to take care of her child,
and enjoy being a mom, or find something part time, I wish her the best.

She really is not that good an actress unlike. Nicole Kidman and Penelope Cruz who are certainly 2 of the best actresses in this era. Sheer class both of them. She will always just be Tom Cruise ex, she has talent but no screen presence

Yes but I think she needs to take some time out and just concentrate on herself and her daughter for a little while... She is still very young, has been through an awful lot and needs time to work through all of that before she embarks on a new career... Having been married to Tom Cruise after a whirlwind romance, then being coerced into joining the scientology cult and basically being controlled by them and her husband and having to live her life in a 'fishbowl' will have taken its toll on her and she will need time to put all of that behind her properly.... She will come through all of this just fine with support from her family and close friends...

Why wouldn't she have a career after Tom Cruise. She is the one, afer all, whio had the good sense to divorce me because he is somewhat controlled by a cult. She got herself and their child to some extent out of a bad situation. The child is living with her and has less exposure to the father than before, she protected her child as much as she could.
You don't see a lot of people of people in Hollywood who are as brave as her. I personally think that she can now have a better and more extensive career. God bless her for being brave enough to separate herself despite what the media or the powers that be say or do.
She is dealing with a cult, so i worry about her safety!!

Give her time. Even Tom has made movies that weren't profitable. She pulled off her divorce without back stabbing Tom and with her and her daughter's best interests at heart.
