Katie Holmes and Tom Cruise Already Settle Divorce: Did Scientology Cause the Split?

In what may have been the fastest divorce in Hollywood history, Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes have already reached a settlement, just two weeks after Katie filed for the big D. To hear what Katie's attorney had to say about it, wait for the :15 mark in the video below!

As for Cruise, his attorney Dennis Wasser told People, "All the lawyers and the parties are happy that it's done, the deal was closed and we wish everyone well." TomKat's reps even came together for a joint statement regarding the couple's 6-year-old daughter Suri, who will reportedly live primarily with Katie, while Tom Cruise gets generous visitation rights.

"We are committed to working together as parents to accomplish what is in our daughter Suri's best interests. We want to keep matters affecting our family private and express our respect for each other's commitment to each of our respective beliefs and support each other's roles as parents." So is the phrase "respective beliefs" a reference to Cruise's religion, Scientology? We're thinking it is... How about you?

It's kind of annoying how everyone is talking about it like they know Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes personally. Seriously, you don't know these people, you just know what the media has told you and what they want for their image. Anything could have caused the divorce.

I seriously think many here judge the guy in a negitive way based up his following of Scientology. Honestly I dont know a great deal about the beliefs of Scientologist, but I do enough with organized religion and with my belief's there all shams.

It's sad that people judge him based on his religion - everyone is entitled to their beliefs and it's a shame that people don't respect that. You for example, are entitled to your belief that all organized religions are shams - it may not necessarily be factually correct, but it's your belief and I respect that.

Exactly, but apparently people just 'know' stuff about the lives of celebs, because a gossip magazine/crappy website said so, and the media never gets anything wrong, therefore it must be true! What idiots.

Yeah and the reason people find this question of value. Its this talk that may lead to quality dialog and debate of things more interesting. Its the best I can ask of from such a question.

I completely agree. This poll is offensive and the majority of the responses are from ignorant human beings that make foolish assumptions about a religion that they know nothing about.

Without a doubt. Thank goodness Katie got that poor little girl out of there before she ended up being psychologically damaged by her father's wackadoodle beliefs.

Scientology is so dangerous to people with delusional personalities... It draws in the powerful and the eccentric like wasps to honey, and then convinces them that this is the real life. It's not realistic; celebrities are getting in on it because they feel powerful. It's like the mile-high club for grandiosely deluded people. I feel sorry for them, really. They're gripped by a fantasy organisation that is very difficult to persuade to let go.

Obviously allot of people don't understand how marriage works, let alone what it takes to not only enter a relationship with someone you already know is kooky, but have a child with them.

    Their marriage broke down for a multitude of reasons, and to simply jump on the Scientology band wagon is to do a number of things;

    - Ignore the fact that Katie gave up her terrible acting career to be with a man who was already proven to be a little insane
    - Ignore the fact that Katie married a man who had already failed at marriage
    - Ignore the fact that Katie set up a prenup for the insane amount of money she walked away with
    - Ignore the fact that Katie opted for sole custody of a child that has had no provable signs of physical or mental abuse when joint custody would have still prevented Tom from having any ability to force Suri into being sent offshore to study Scientology (this alone proves 100% it's not just about Scientology)

There is no doubt at all there is allot more to the story then Scientology, and it comes down to more about who Tom is as a person then what he believes. And who the hell is to say that Katie isn't a total nightmare to live with as well and Tom agreed on a method of divorce with her that would free him from her while not tainting her public image.

Yeah anyone seasoned on this site should know by now to get real results on a poll you need an optional choice like "other"
Yet we still get many narrow minded asking questions.

No. Studies show that marriage is the leading cause of divorce. Haven't seen stats for divorce rates among Scientologists. Have you Angel?
  • ANGEL Fredric... 2012/07/11 13:26:04
    ANGEL
Hi Fredrick: I haven't seen the stats. I'd like to believe it is less so - but to be honest, I can't say. Couples are encouraged to work things out. There are courses on "How to improve your marriage" for example, and couples counseling. Nevertheless, it certainly does happen. (I'm an example of that)

Probably, aside from indoctrination of Suri, which was supposed to begin this year of next, the leader of that cult LOVES having Tom to himself, and having more control over all of Tom's money.

When i see those two together, all I can think is "svengali".
