In what may have been the fastest divorce in Hollywood history, Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes have already reached a settlement, just two weeks after Katie filed for the big D. To hear what Katie's attorney had to say about it, wait for the :15 mark in the video below!

As for Cruise, his attorney Dennis Wasser told People, "All the lawyers and the parties are happy that it's done, the deal was closed and we wish everyone well." TomKat's reps even came together for a joint statement regarding the couple's 6-year-old daughter Suri, who will reportedly live primarily with Katie, while Tom Cruise gets generous visitation rights.

"We are committed to working together as parents to accomplish what is in our daughter Suri's best interests. We want to keep matters affecting our family private and express our respect for each other's commitment to each of our respective beliefs and support each other's roles as parents." So is the phrase "respective beliefs" a reference to Cruise's religion, Scientology? We're thinking it is... How about you?

It's kind of annoying how everyone is talking about it like they know Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes personally. Seriously, you don't know these people, you just know what the media has told you and what they want for their image. Anything could have caused the divorce.

I know many have been involved with this cult who have been diagnosed with a mental illness. The only thing it does is hinder recovery.

Scientology is a bogus"religion". It is a cult founded by a sci-fi writer L. Ron Hubbard and only an idiot would join. Look at the way Cruise behaves although I have to say he is kind of a typical Hollywood wacko. I can't believe Holmes married the idiot.

Money and notoriety. That's what all struggling actors strive for.
He's not a bad looking guy either.

Scientology is a valid religious belief - everyone is entitled to their own religious beliefs and we need to respect their rights. Because if we discriminate against people based on a religion then what are we? Hypocritical fools.

Valid by what standard? The Constitution? If thats your contention thanIhave to say "so what". Scientology is "manmade" like ALL protestant denominations..the ONLY one founded by Jesus and givebn AUTHORITY by him is still seated in Rome. Thats a fact. L Ron Hubbards invention is just one more in a long line of man made cults.

You are absolutely ridiculous. Your religion is not the only 'true religion' in existence, everyone has their own religious views, none have been proven, in fact they probably never will be proven - because nobody knows what's really out there.
Catholicism is also man made, considering Jesus was a Jew. ALL religions are man made, they worship some form of Deity that may or may not be real, but the religions themselves are completely man made. A man wrote the Bible for crying out loud.

In Rome? No, that is your own personal opinion. A very bigoted opinion from what I can see, but an opinion nonetheless.

Just because a religious view isn't very well understood that is not an indication that it's a "cult".

Yes I think it was a major part of the split especially when Katie immediately became a Catholic again after her split with Tom. Tom was used to having his way with everything and doing whatever he wanted and paid less attention to his younger wife. She let him find out he was no immortal and made him pay for it too.

Spiritual paths are just that, spiritual paths. When correctly observed, they provide comfort, direction, and inspiration, but with that comes personal responsibility and balance. Spirituality, like anything else, can be misapplied or even abused, but a spiritual path in and of itself does not "cause" anything.

I truly think even with all the good this church does it is a drain on any marriage where both parties aren't as in love with its teachings as the other. There is also the issue of how much of the couple's income is absorbed by cost of the courses you are heavily advised to take to reach the church's highest level of OT8 (operating Thetan 8).

I am amazed the marriage lasted this long, but I guess Katie didn't have the strength to stand up to Tom till now. Who knows Tom may now find the strength to come out of the closet. out of the closet

But I only say this because religion is a big factor once you get married. You may not think so at first, you meet, you date, you get engaged, but even when you're planning a wedding it would be hard. Like me, I'm an atheist and if I was engaged to a Christian, we would probably argue about whether to get married in a church or not, and that's a big battle in and of itself. And then when you have kids, it's an even bigger deal because some parents will argue about whether they want the kid raised a specific religion or not. Honestly, I would just let the kid decided for themself when they got older, but that's besides the point. Tom Cruise has had what, three marriages already? I think that it might just be time for him to marry a Scientologist, because religion isn't really working out for him.
  • Carlo Jules 2012/07/11 20:25:06

If you let kids get older and choose for themselves about religion they usually stay away from it. They have to grab you young to get you to believe in the hokus pokus.

Haha you are kinda right, I was raised to make up my own mind, and I am an atheist. But my brother doesn't seem to be turning out the same way, he's heading down the religious christian route. I think it depends more on the person really.
  • Carlo Jules 2012/07/18 04:42:21
    Carlo
Well im not so sure about that. You should possibly ask more athiest about their childhood. Has your brother been influenced from a young age by anyone?
  • Jules Carlo 2012/07/20 23:56:00

Not really, he was always sort of that way. It just got more prominent when he started to going to this camp at a born-again church, but that was his choice to go.

Rubbish. Divorce is the separation of a married couple, it can be caused by many different things. I sincerely hope you aren't a real doctor.

    Here is what I KNOW:
    1. Scientology is a great self help group but NOT A CHURCH.
    2. Under the leadership of Miscabbage the "Church" is losing members all over the world.
    3. Even contacting OT8's to redo the "Courses" because Miscabbage says so is making people LEAVE.
    4. Lastly FOR NOW XENU is never going to drop bombs into volcano's.
It only takes 3 strikes in baseball and your out. I have noted 4. Good Bye.

That made no sense. Everyone is entitled to their beliefs, just because they're famous that doesn't mean they have to conform to the generally accepted beliefs within our society.

I know it makes no sense but it sure as hell goes along with this "Religion". As I have said on a ton of occasions scientology is a great self help group but its NOT a religion.

Well you can think that if you'd like, I'm sure alot of people share your view, but those involved obviously view at as their religion and we need to respect that.

OR I have a personal knowledge of that "religion" via my girls Mom. She is an OT8 and gives the best advice Ive ever found. However even She is getting tired of the harassment she is getting from miscabbage telling her that new stuff is in the teachings and she MUST retake the courses. This woman is in her 70's for Christ's sake.

Well if she wants to remain in the church because she views it as her religion then that's her choice, not every religion is for everyone and not every religion does and expects things that are necessarily agreeable.

Because in order for her to be required to learn the new teachings she'd have to have learnt the old ones. Obviously.

I knew it. I guess age does give me a bit of perspective that you folks dont have. I have a bit of advice for you.
    1. Stay in school.
    2. Listen to your parents.
    3. When you think you know something chances are you dont know the full story so once again LISTEN. You will learn something.

You knew it? I fail to see how age comes into an argument, it's merely a number, it's used to measure the time since one's birth. It is not an accurate measurement of intelligence or life experience.

Alas I am young but not as young as you seem to think I am.
So my returning advice to you dear sir,

    1. Keep and open mind and listen to others, you don't know who they are or where they've been, or how much they know.
    2. Don't make assumptions about people based on a number
    3. Don't eat the yellow snow
