Katie Holmes and Tom Cruise Already Settle Divorce: Did Scientology Cause the Split?

In what may have been the fastest divorce in Hollywood history, Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes have already reached a settlement, just two weeks after Katie filed for the big D. To hear what Katie's attorney had to say about it, wait for the :15 mark in the video below!

As for Cruise, his attorney Dennis Wasser told People, "All the lawyers and the parties are happy that it's done, the deal was closed and we wish everyone well." TomKat's reps even came together for a joint statement regarding the couple's 6-year-old daughter Suri, who will reportedly live primarily with Katie, while Tom Cruise gets generous visitation rights.

"We are committed to working together as parents to accomplish what is in our daughter Suri's best interests. We want to keep matters affecting our family private and express our respect for each other's commitment to each of our respective beliefs and support each other's roles as parents." So is the phrase "respective beliefs" a reference to Cruise's religion, Scientology? We're thinking it is... How about you?

It's kind of annoying how everyone is talking about it like they know Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes personally. Seriously, you don't know these people, you just know what the media has told you and what they want for their image. Anything could have caused the divorce.

Similiar to the definition of a CULT (= knew the Truth once ) but apostitized from Truth ,... except their Bible hasn't changed how Salvation is seeked (with all that isn't accurate) , just ended up with a poluted priesthood .

    Scientology is completely false .

Who knows beside them? I might not have helped the situation, but then again who knows. Look at Jon Travolta, another scientologist, did it cause him to turn gay?

Basically, WHO CARES? The ONLY thing that causes divorce is a personal DECISION made by both parties. But in this era of "take no responsibility for one's own chioces", it's convenient to blame a philosophy rather than acknowledge that you are both failures and/or married for publicity.

Case in point is their statement: "We are committed to working together as parents to accomplish what is in our daughter Suri's best interests." Bull-puckey. What's in the best interest of their child "as parents" is them working on their marriage, staying committed TO EACH OTHER--regardless of their differences. Name any two people who agree on everything. Do not exist. Mature, committed people stay married because they are not looking for excuses to take the easy road out, realizing they there will always be differences in every relationship--especially marriage.

Love is a CHOICE, not a feeling. "Falling in love" is a myth and does not exist. Same goes for "falling OUT of love". You do not fall in or out of love; rather, you CHOOSE to either start loving someone or stop loving someone. But it is a CHOICE, not a random "fuzzy feeling of cosmic vibes".

    Grow up.

A lot of people believe so. The fact that the settlement was quickly reached spoke volumes about what Tom Cruise does NOT want to be revealed.

There appear to be many out there who are willing to believe anything about anybody without the slightest piece of evidence or proof. It is no crime if he is but I have never seen one thing that proves or even clearly implies that this guy is gay. I am not one of his big fans but he deserves the consideration anyone should get. Show me the proof and show me the accuser, otherwise shut up.

Who is lieing? What proof exists? Why should inuendo make this man come out with something that is not true? Who is making these accusations? Why? This is all too strange. Why is it such a matter of concern?
  • Carlo El Prez 2012/07/18 04:25:41

A friend once said all the good looking men are married or gay. That may be the case for this prediction, because his couch demeaner doesnt say much and his behavior in general sure doesnt. A bit nutty maybe. I really dont care for his beliefs and enjoyed him in a couple movies. Dont give much weight to celebrities to begin with, but if he is completely straight it could effect his dating pool with such incorrect assuptions.

Obviously I don't know them, but I do know that she has made some public comments about scientology that didn't sound too positive. That aside, it also sounds like Tom is a bit controlling (again, based on things I've heard, not from personal experience.) Sounds to me that Katie just got a little tired of it all.

They all serve to steer people around like sheep and they all offer a way for their proponents to keep well fed without having to perform in an actual job which is productive to society.

It is compounded by life style, attraction, respect, priorities, treatment, and on and on....there are many people happily married with differing religious views.

I have no idea why they got a divorce, I wonder if they could have worked it out because they seem to come to a settlement rather quickly with no fights. Different religion is a challenge to overcome and that was probably a factor but we don't know them so all we have to go on is what the press reports and speculation, at any rate it is sad that another marrage with a child bites the dust.

It isn't unusual for one's preference for a particular superstition to cause the demise of a relationship. This is true regardless of which dogma one chooses to follow.
