In what may have been the fastest divorce in Hollywood history, Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes have already reached a settlement, just two weeks after Katie filed for the big D. To hear what Katie's attorney had to say about it, wait for the :15 mark in the video below!

As for Cruise, his attorney Dennis Wasser told People, "All the lawyers and the parties are happy that it's done, the deal was closed and we wish everyone well." TomKat's reps even came together for a joint statement regarding the couple's 6-year-old daughter Suri, who will reportedly live primarily with Katie, while Tom Cruise gets generous visitation rights.

"We are committed to working together as parents to accomplish what is in our daughter Suri's best interests. We want to keep matters affecting our family private and express our respect for each other's commitment to each of our respective beliefs and support each other's roles as parents." So is the phrase "respective beliefs" a reference to Cruise's religion, Scientology? We're thinking it is... How about you?

It's kind of annoying how everyone is talking about it like they know Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes personally. Seriously, you don't know these people, you just know what the media has told you and what they want for their image. Anything could have caused the divorce.

No, it played a part, but they were gonna get divorced any way because they say he's very controlling.

But how about the possible cause simply being the fact that TC is an uncool-as-Hell nutjob? Or is that simply the definition of a Scientologist?!

Probably the pressures of celebs being married and having careers that separate them for long periodxs of time.

It was probably the fastest divorce in history cause they had a pre-nup that was iron-clad and covered all bases. This left very little to be ironed out in court. Since the pre-nup was signed and agreed to by both parties - sounds to me that they both handled that aspect quite well.

I can't honestly say whether it did or didn't, but knowing as much about the religion as I do. The blackmail the money the secrecy... I can firmly say this. If she's not a Scientologist, and he is, chances are, she got tired of it... Crazy is only fun in small doses.

Tom Cruise is a crabby, hypersensitive, know it all, power hungry, arrogant man who thinks he has all the answers. He is definitely a product of his truly awful childhood. He is also the type of person who is drawn to religion as a crutch. Terrible choice as far as I'm concerned. That interview with Matt Lauer showed a Tom Cruise that was truly scary. I imagine that being in an intimate relationship with him would be a lot of work and not much fun.

And the TomKat split aint the first caused by the Church of Scientology, and it's very
unlikely to be the last. The Church of Scientology scares the hell out of me. The fact is
that bunch of outlaws has been proven on several occasions to be up to their ears in
sculldugory for decades. Tom Cruise is definenately the latest and one of the most
promonate illistrations of their rampant corruption. That organization needs to be shut
down by federal, state, and international athorities before these wicked individuals causes
something more severe than marriage breakups. Say another Branch Davidian, Manson
Family, Jonestown, or other similar tragic occurrance.

It sure sounds like it as per the settlement. I wouldn't want my kid around a religion that most people consider a cult and who depend on their IRS tax satus to show the world they are real religion. Katie's love for her child is moe powerful than her love for Tom and his love for his Church and it's members is more powerful than his love for Katie and their child so she took responsibility and she moved on. Good luck to the three of them.

Well I did mention it before as sort of a joke.

Also, when folks try to control others through "their" religion
of course it's going to create rifts and separations and such.

I'm glad she's thinking of her child's well being first, because
hanging around daddy too long might make her loopy
before she turns 7 years old.

Not likely. Katie knew he was into scientology before they were married. With Hollyweirds who knows what the reason is.

whoever doesn't think it was a major factor here is delusional. But it wasn't the only thing, no doubt. marriages succeed or fail based on a collection of reasons, but religion / belief system is often a biggie.

Katie knew Scientology was significant to Tom going in, I think the marriage ended because she was unhappy and she blamed Tom for it. I don't think she was capable of negotiating for her position in the marriage, consequently, she wasn't getting what she wanted, and she came to hate him for it. But I'm sure deep down he's hurting to know that Katie would use their Kid to get to his money, although he provided her with millions before the marriage, and more to come pursuant to the pre-nuptial agreement. She's not a nice girl . . . See how quick she got over the need to "protect" her daughter? Tom's religion did not change, just the distribution of wealth . . .
