Katie Couric always seems so confident and put-together, but when she was in college, she suffered from bulimia, she admitted on her new talk show "Katie" on Monday.

"I wrestled with bulimia all through college and for two years after that," the perky 55-year-old journalist said while interviewing an expert on eating disorders. "I know this rigidity, this feeling that if you eat one thing that's wrong, you're full of self-loathing and then you punish yourself. Whether it's one cookie or a stick of gum that isn't sugarless ... sometimes [I would] beat myself up for that," she added.

The segment featured 20-year-old "X Factor" judge Demi Lovato, who has also spoken publicly about her struggles with eating disorders and self-harm. But Katie? We didn't see it coming.

And now, the least surprising: Katie Couric is...55? And we're supposed to gasp in horrific sympathy for an eating disorder she had 35 years ago? As if millions of other college students (barely out of adolescence) didn't have their own serious battles to contend with? Katie knows her star is fading and this is a pathetic grasp for attention. What Katie's really confessing to is that she is a narcissistic, self-pitying has-been. Another trite celebrity PR stunt. And yes, that is how I REALLY feel.

Mackenzie Phillips was on Oprah, and I broke down and watched that show. It was unbearably awful. I never heard Anne Heche with her admission, and so her story actually might be even worse.
