Thought you’d seen the last of Dr. Izzie Stevens? Well “Grey’s” fans, if Katherine Heigl gets her way, her old character may be making a comeback.
Heigl, who left “Grey’s Anatomy” during its sixth season to spend more time with her adoptive daughter, has approached the popular show’s creators about making a return. The 33-year-old actress revealed this surprising tidbit while promoting her new movie “One For the Money.”

She told E! Online, “I really, really, really want to see where [Izzie] is. I just want to know what happened to her and where she went and what she’s doing now. My idea is that she actually, like, figures it out, and finds some success and does really well in a different hospital, because she was always floundering . . . she was always one step behind the eight ball, and I want to see that girl take some power back.”
The question now is: Do the people behind “Grey’s” want to take her back?
Heigl has had a tumultuous history with the show's creators. In 2007 the actress won an Emmy for her performance on the show. But in 2008, she withdrew from the race, saying, "I did not feel that I was given the material this season to warrant an Emmy nomination, and in an effort to maintain the integrity of the academy organization, I withdrew my name from contention."
During the summer of 2009, Heigl publicly complained to David Letterman about the long work hours on set, and when filming resumed in March 2010 she did not show up. Heigl was scheduled to appear in the last five episodes of the sixth season, but was released early from her contract.

Nevertheless, Izzie Stevens was a very popular character, and many of the show’s fans would surely be glad to see her return. This may be an especially good time to bring back an old favorite due to the fact that contracts for several of the show’s leads are set to expire at the end of the current (eighth) season. But, at the same time,“Grey’s” is in no way short on characters or material.
As Heigl herself said, “Being a showrunner and being a writer of a TV series like that is so complicated that, I mean, she's got how many characters on there now? There's a lot and so she's balancing about 40 different story lines, so I don't know if it fits into their sort of vision for this season or next or however many seasons it goes."
What do you think? Should the creators of “Grey’s Anatomy” let Katherine Heigl return to the show?

I only cared about her when Jeffrey Dean Morgan was on anyway.
I think they have enough character stories already.
