Kate Winslet Turns Down Autographs: Understandable or Rude?

The trials and difficulties of being a megastar never cease. According to RadarOnline, "Titanic" star Kate Winslet upset some eager fans on a flight from London to Boston last week when she promised to sign some autographs, then never did. Susan Roberts, the mother of the two teen girls who requested the autographs, was severely disappointed in Winslet's failure to appease the girls.

Roberts told the tabloid, "My two daughters asked for an autograph about half an hour into the six and a half hour flight and she told them she would come back later and visit. Well, that never happened. It was very sad that she couldn't be bothered." Of course, But not everyone believes celebrities are obligated to sign autographs at every opportunity. Especially on a six-hour flight. Do you think Winslet was being rude, or was she justified?

It's possible she forgot or got occupied. Or maybe she disnt feel like going back to do it. we arent on our a game all the time and unfortunately, when youre famous, You're always being scrutinized

why don't you impress upon your kids the utterly meaningless nature of the autograph.... she gets blasted relentlessly by thousands and no it is not the price you should have to pay for making a movie. You don't have any idea what she was involved in jees give them a break

It's not the refusal which was rude, imo. It's the fact that she said she would, but didn't.

Again, she most likely became preoccupied. I doubt if it was intentional.. she probably had many interactions and became distracting. "Gee, was it the girl with the yellow top on or the girl in the blue dress, or that lady with her one daughter.. or the other woman with two daughters.. Oh and that man wants a signature for his wife back home.. and..." Too much.

her fans are THE ONLY REASON shes a millionaire, if someone contributed to my 35 million dollar net worth, I would be glad to break out the pen for a 5-second autograph...

Im not her "fan", but if i had fans I would at least explain to them why I couldnt sign autographs, or just sign the damn things. Celebrities arent important to me but to some people, they dedicate their lives to them and spend all their money buying their stuff

You can't just assume that she was being to posh to sign some autographs. It was a six-hour flight everyone is entitled to have some rest.
