In July, we told you about Rolling Stone's "
Women Who Rock" playlist and asked you to vote for your favorite rocker chick (turns out Joan Jett and Stevie Nicks were SodaHead's top choices.) Rolling Stone also ran a poll on their site asking users to vote for their favorite "2012 Women Who Rock" and YouTube sensation Karmin was just announced as the winner, landing them this month's cover of the famed music mag.
Karmin is a female-led duo comprised of Amy Heidemann and her fiance Nick Noonan and is best known for their single "Brokenhearted" (watch the video below). It reached the top 20 in the US, but if you haven't heard it yet you might be familiar with their covers of Chris Brown's "Look at Me Now" or Nicki Minaj's "Super Bass." Some disgruntled observers have noted that the group isn't really rock and is 50 percent male, but they weren't the only mixed-gender group on the poll. What do you guys think of Karmin? Have you heard them yet? And if so, are you a fan?
JEZEBEL.COM reports:
Rolling Stone partnered with Garnier Fructis to create a "Women Who Rock flip cover contest." The contest featured a fairly diverse bunch of artists but Karmin, a group that consists of 26-year-old Amy Heidemann and her fiancé Nick Noonan, are the winners. The fans have spoken, they're the ones who voted, and this duo represents the 2012 Women Who Rock.
