Karl Lagerfeld Slams Pippa Middleton: Is He a Mean Old Man?

Fashion designer Karl Lagerfeld is at it again, insulting celebrities for their looks. Earlier this year, he made comments about singer Adele’s weight, causing quite a stir. Now he’s picking on British royalty! His new target is Pippa Middleton, the sister of the Duchess of Cambridge, Kate Middleton.

According to The Sun, Lagerfeld commented on Pippa saying, “I don't like the sister's face. She should only show her back.” He was seemingly referring to the infamous image shot from the rear of Pippa carrying her sister’s train at last summer’s royal wedding.

The fashion icon has made his living off glorifying other people’s beauty. Not only has he designed clothes for fashion houses like Fendi and Channel but he has also shot numerous iconic photographs including Mariah Carey’s V cover in 2005. In addition, he shot a series called “Visionaire 23: The Emperor's New Clothes,” featuring nude images of celebrities and models.

Granted, he may know a thing or two about the popular perceptions of beauty. But does this give him the right to criticize unsuspecting public figures who have not asked for his assessment? Or perhaps the opinionated designer is just looking for a little free publicity. Whatever it is, he needs to check his tone.

    Pippa Middleton is not a member of the Royal Family. Her sister is and is well thought of here in the UK. Pippa cannot help but attract snide comments from the likes of some idiots because she is Prince William's sister-in-law. There a many women who'd love to look even half as good as she does. As for Lagerfeld he should just LEAVE HER ALONE.

    Sure, but people critique celebrities all the time. You would think fashion designers would be entitled to their opinions when it comes to beauty, but suddenly he is a "mean old man" for observing fashion. It seems unfair to him.

    In my opinion, Pippa isn't nearly as pretty as her sister Kate, but that's no call for what Lagerfeld said. That was just downright mean and douchebaggy of him. Respect: lost.

    Ugly people frequently slam beautiful people. He is simply a jerk and was probably picked on in school and this is his way of getting back. It doesn't matter to him he is picking on an innocent person no more than the bullies did that picked on him in school.

    I think the point is that he's ugly on the inside, so that would make him ugly on the outside, metaphorically. And it's not pleasurable to look at "ugly" people. At least that's how I took it.

    Oh my, an old misogynist is making disparaging remarks about women and he's a fashion designer. It's practically part and parcel of the job to hate women, isn't it? At least the shoe designers have to with the sheer cruelty of what they make.
