The news comes on the heels of an Us Weekly report that Nicki Minaj will join the show next season. "I'm not sure the deal is completely done yet, but yes, she is definitely doing it," an insider tells the mag. The outspoken 29-year-old rapper is one of those love-her-or-hate-her celebs, but we'd tune in just to see what she's wearing!
However, the one already confirmed judge -- Mariah Carey -- seems none too happy about the latest picks. Carey hung up the phone when she was told that Minaj was the top candidate, TMZ reports -- and she followed up by tweeting a photo of herself with Lenny Kravitz along with the caption: "@AmericanIdol What's going on? need the info!! What about this combo? :) if we could ever get him to do it."
