"You know everyone loves and respects Michael but times change. It’s so sad to see Michael gone but it makes a path for a new King of Pop and I’m willing to take that on. There’s nobody who can match me in sales and in Kanye West respect so it only makes sense for me to take over Michael’s crown and become the new King. First there was Elvis, then there was Michael, now in the 21st century its Kanye’s time to rule.
I have nothing but respect for Michael but someone needs to pick up where he left off and there’s nobody better than me to do that. I am the new King of Pop. "

Wow.. almost unbelievable that after Michael Jackson dies, he tries to steal the title. He thinks he has as much talent as Elvis Presley AND MJ? For all I care, he can stick to the title of gay fish.

To think I used to like this artist when he first came out. More and more I have been starting to see how full of himself this guy is, if he did in fact say this, Mr. Jackson and Mr. Presley should hop out of their grave and tag team on his ass. If he has to say shit like that, he's a fucking loser and isn't worthy of being called King of anything, because first of all, those two earned those titles, they didn't "Declare" themselves anything, society did. You understand what I'm saying? If you have to keep spewing something to everyone about how you're a king and what not, then you're not one. He should keep his mouth shut, shrink his head some, if he had anymore air in him, we could enter him the annual Albuquerque hot air balloon festival.

Who is this guy again? lol Wow does he honestly think he could compare to those two? I've heard his stuff and it sucks....sorry my opinion. No one can replace either of the two. You also can't just declare yourself king. The people get to choose. People like him are just asses thinking they are all great. He'll never be anything in my eyes.

Michael Jackson is the one who declared himself the "King of Pop." It's hilarious that everyone forgets this. That's why Howard Stern calls himself "The King of All Media" in jest. You can call yourself anything you want and people will follow suit. hahhahahahahahahah.

He's unbelievable. For whatever reason his ego is incredibly inflated. He's a self-proclaimed "king"...and that is about as lame as it gets. When you have to constantly talk about how good you are - it becomes blatantly obvious that you suck. :( Sorry Kanye!

kanye said that story was absurd and that he never said that. i dont think he could EVER be the king of pop. first of all, he's a rapper, so that would make him the king of hip hop. second, c'mon, know one can touch michael jackson :)

You say you would be happy if he became the "king of pop". Did you notice how arrogant he was being when he said he wanted the king of pop title? He really could have avoided saying such a ridiculous comment. If he couldn't avoid talking about it, then he should've had the courtesy to give it to someone else; I am not saying that because I don't like his music, I am saying that because it would be a way for him to worship someone other than himself for once.

Also, whoever is the "king of pop" nowadays doesn't even matter; it's not even a real political position.

Autotune has been the death of real music. My son's a drummer. My daughter has sung some and they went to one of the top music schools in the nation. There are people with more talent playing in the basement of JJ's Pizza in Denton TX than inhabit all of the current overly produced music scene.
