This is not really a musical collaboration we saw coming... but according to the New York Post, Kanye West and Paul McCartney are making music together.

Apparently, sources have told Page Six that the rapper and former Beatle have been collaborating with each other on a handful of tracks that may also develop into a full-fledged album. One song so far is reportedly titled "Piss on My Grave."

What do you think of Kanye West and Paul McCartney reportedly recording music together? Do you think it's rad that these very different music makers are joining forces? Or is it ridiculous for West and McCartney to collab together?

wtf is he doing with someone soo talentless? I hate Kanye

My knee-jerk reaction was to wish that Kanye should've picked a more substantial rock and roll star, but then I realized that Kanye's genius has always been that of incorporating disparate musical ideas into a construction that supports his own ideas, and that Paul's genius has always been in the formal structure of one particularly fruitful strand of musical ideas.

I have been wishing for a McCartney/Hip Hop collaboration for some time; I have been thinking Dr. Dre or Diddy - Dirty Money, but perhaps Kanye is a good compromise of East & West. I have read some of the negative comments about rap music, and I don’t think that most of those opinions are very informed. Check out Kanye’s album “College Dropout,” it is marvelous. Don’t have any expectations; just listen to what the artist has created. McCartney has already had collaboration with rap on the Lulu/McCartney song “Inside Thing,” check it out; it is sweet. Personally, I hope that this report is true.

Because that ass might help him make truly great (and not merely competent) music for the first time in several decades.

People of the past generations will hate on this generations music till the cows come home. You know they're NEVER going to listen to Kanye, let alone take the time to look at his lyrics and their deeper meaning. Sure, some of it is about money and women, but some lyrics are very insightful about the struggle African Americans face in this country, and the struggles he faced growing up. Both Paul McCartney and Kanye West are musical revolutionaries in their own ways, and all the baby boomers that are living in the past are now being faced with the reality that rap music is a legitimate art form, and must now stop hiding behind their old school, racist ways.

Paul McCartney is and always was a true romantic. He paired well with John Lennon, who was not so much. They were magical together. He also aired for one or two songs with others like Stevie Wonder and Michael Jackson, also both romantics in their hearts. Not the same magic as he and Lennon, but very successfully done music wise and money-wise. Hopefully Paul will leave it thus and not trifle with his luck.

Maybe it's just an ugly rumor :)

Well, if Paul wants to do it, its OK. But I won't be there to buy the video or the CD. I think we need to check the New York Post's sources. They've missed the mark more than a few times. But it sells papers.

I don't know. I imagine there are people who would adore a "John Lennon was one of the greatest Beatles of all time" outburst.

Not a McCartney or Beatles fan, but it doesn't take a genius to see he is leagues above Kanye's "musical ability".

of course its between the two of (them), but personally i'm surprised music legend PM would feel the (need) OR desire to pair with common rap. Perhaps Sir Paul is going thru his second childhood??

i am guessing that you are appalled by the fact that paul thinks he is good enough to take the stage with kanye, which you know kanye latter will say out of no where god hates black people or some crap and have the audience watch the beating of kunta kinte.

He won't let Weird Al do a parody because it involves chicken pot pie but he's A-Ok with working with a wish-washy, mediocre, and overrated rapper/singer with a jesus-complex. Sad.
