Justin Bieber's Private Jet And Other Silly Purchases: Right to Spend or Too Extravagant?

Justin Bieber is a 17-year-old bazillionaire who probably hasn't learned to save his loads of hard-earned cash yet. So we guess we shouldn't be too surprised at some of his frivolous purchases. But $19,000 for a single trip on a private jet? We're just glad he hasn't bought the $22 million Cessna Citation X jet yet.

Thanks to Bieber's photo-sharing Instagram account, fans everywhere can see what Bieber's up to by the pictures he posts...as well as how much the pop star is spending on a daily basis. In addition to the $19K a pop private jet trip, Bieber has spent a few gazillian pretty pennies on other luxuries too.

Those items include a Ferrari F430 ($200,000), a Lamborghini Gallardo ($200,000), a chartered yacht for two ($300,000) and a Chick-fil-A chicken sandwich ($2.75.) OK, so that last thing isn't exactly a frivolous purchase, but it is delicious.

Anyway, here's a photo that Justin's music video director (and good friend) Alfredo Flores tweeted while aboard the flashy jet with the following caption: "BOOM BOOM POW! @JustinBieber @SelenaGomez...See the creeper?"

justin bieber selena gomez justin bieber jet

That creeper is Justin's bodyguard in the background by the way. And the dude sticking his tongue out is Mr. Alfredo Flores himself, just in case you're wondering.

But, back to the point. Do you think Justin Bieber's private jet purchases are too much -- or does he have a right to spend spend spend?

seriously? i just downladed that exact image earlier today to make a an art piece basically against republicans and democrats.. each issue should be treated on its own..
i just said he should give at least a lot of it to people because he doesnt need it and other people do, also there a re a lot of good artists/musicians that weren't luck enough to be in the right place at the right time when they were younger that he could hook up...

I have a better idea.... how about, unless your disabled or retired... everyone WORK for their own damn money? The boy earned is money and he can spend it on whatever the hell he wants. It's HIS money.... not yours or anyone elses to 'give' to others who 'need' it. Get real... and yes... SERIOUSLY! We have become a nation of handouts, not hand ups. It's going to ruin us as a nation. People like you are what will bring us down. If someone refuses to work, then they can starve. No one is entitled to anything free. We have the right to PURSUE happiness, not guaranteed to us. Nothing says we need to feed, clothe and house those that won't do it for themselves. (Got nothing against those that can't, only those that won't)

Justin Bieber's private jet? Nice headline there, Sodahead. The story says he only took a ride in one. So, he doesn't have a private jet.

Anyhoo ... the entertainment and sports worlds are full of people who "had it all" but then went bankrupt later on. Not to mention, who knows if Bieber will even be popular 5 or 10 years from now?

That's how capitalism works. People are allowed to have money and spend it however they please. There's no limit onto how much money you can save (or not save) and that's why no matter how hard you try to equalize the gap between rich and poor, there will always be one. It can be unfair to some people but if you were in his situation I'm sure you would love it. And that's the system we have now so with that in mind, he isn't doing anything illegal or wrong.

Wouldn't it be better for the economy if the increased taxes for the rich go to all the debts we have?
  • meeshuk Adam Ju... 2011/10/01 02:03:10

No it would be better for the economy if that money were spent IN THE ECONOMY TO CREATE JOBS that would then put MORE PEOPLE PAYING TAXES. IF you were to take 100% of the income from the top 10% of income earners you would STILL not cover our annual deficit. The problem is NOT an income problem it is a SPENDING PROBLEM. Congress doesn't need to learn how to tax more it needs to learn how to SPEND LESS.

Wake up. This class warfare BS is just meant to divide the country so that the Democans can buy the vote of the poor. When 50% of the country THAT DOESN'T PAY INCOME TAX can VOTE THEMSELVES a portion of the government coffers.............. we are going to fail as a country.
  • Hebsi meeshuk 2011/09/30 05:43:14

Yeah, and just think how much the economy would stimulate if a few million more dollars of his earnings were taxed (along with all the other million and billionairies out there).

When Justin Bieber spends his money the people who build the cars, and fly the planes, staff the yachts, and make the sandwiches get paid. These people then pay their rent, make car payments, buy gas, food, clothing, etc. Additionally, the government taxes each of these earnings and transactions thereby gaining more revenue.

When the government gets the money, they give it to failing banks and businesses, spend billions in unproductive and unprofitable sectors of the economy, spend trillions on warfare (including an utterly failed and counterproductive "war" on drugs). They have a proven track record of fiscal mismanagement and over spending. The increased tax rates also drive businesses and capital investment elsewhere.

Now really. Which do you think helps the economy more?
  • meeshuk Hebsi 2011/10/01 02:07:02
    meeshuk
Yeah and just think how many people get to keep their jobs because he is out there buying goods and services with those dollars. Oh yeah, and don't forget the sales taxes, licensing taxes, fuel taxes, and other fees that he pays in the process that helps to keep local, state, and federal governments going also.

BTW - you do NOT stimulate an economy by removing money flowing through it to prop up bloated government spending.

IF you were to take 100% of the income from the top 10% of income earners you would STILL not cover our annual deficit. The problem is NOT an income problem it is a SPENDING PROBLEM. Congress doesn't need to learn how to tax more it needs to learn how to SPEND LESS.
