Justin Bieber Sweeps the Board at the AMAs: Does He Deserve It?

Justin Bieber won every single award that he was nominated for at Sunday night’s American Music Awards, even beating Rihanna, Katy Perry, Maroon 5 and Drake for the coveted Artist of the Year award. He was also awarded Favorite Pop/Rock Male Artist and Favorite Pop/Rock Album for “Believe.”

With his relationship with Selena Gomez apparently now over, 18-year-old Justin’s date was his mother Pattie Mallette, and he dedicated his first win of the night to her. At the end of the night, he said “It’s hard growing up with everything going on, with everyone watching me. I wanted to say that as as long as you guys keep believing in me, I want to always make you proud."

Boy band One Direction wasn’t so lucky, receiving no awards from three nominations, while Rihanna and Nicki Minaj had the most nominations with four each. Both of them took home just one award; the rap/hip-hop album award for Nicki, and soul/R & B album for Rihanna. Carly Rae Jepsen beat Gotye, One Direction, fun. And J. Cole to New Artist of the Year. Do you think Justin Bieber deserved to win all those awards?

Justin Bieber sings songs that are simple enough for someone to sing even if they have no musical knowledge whatsoever. Does he even write his own songs?? I mean, even if he does, the lyrics are incredibly repetitive and unoriginal. And also, he is pretty full of himself.

yes if any body wins some kind of award doesn't matter what it is then obviously they deserved it because if they didnt then they wouldn't have gotten the award so if Justin got the award then obviously he deserved it and earned it some kind of way .

AMAs became like who's the most popular? who's more intriguing? awards.... to be honest it seems like Justin Bieber is trying so hard to be like Michael Jackson in which he cannot.... and so he don't deserve the awards...the winner should be the one with its own concept and own music. not a pirate person. yes... he works hard for the music he produces. and he didn't have a lot of competition. All the others music are songs that are repeated over and over. the topics they sign about are the same as everybody's. he actually finds good music, he creates it and works hard to make it amazing

Regardless of talent, he seemed to spend the whole year in the tabloids who talked about his tattoos, his driving and Selena. Sure seems like the typical AMA Awards to me! Pure frivolity!
