Justin Bieber Sued for $9 Million Over Hearing Loss: What's the Loudest Part of a Concert?

Justin Bieber is being sued by a woman for $9 million after getting hearing damage from his screaming fans at a concert. The disgruntled concert-goer claims that when Bieber flew over the crowd in a heart-shaped metal gondola (uh, really?), he was egging on the prepubescent shriekers.

The woman took it even further by saying "the gondola that Justin Bieber was suspended in acted as a sound conductor, creating a sound blast that permanently damaged both of my ears." Time will tell who is at fault here -- although we have a strong hunch we know who will win -- but in the meantime: What do you think is the loudest part of a concert?

ROLLINGSTONE.COM reports:
Justin Bieber has been hit with a 9 million lawsuit by an Oregon woman who says a screaming fan permanently damaged her hearing at one of the pop star's shows.

Wow.. You go to a concert KNOWING there's going to be loud music and screaming, why in the hell would you not bring earplugs? -.-
    It's her own fault.

And now I'm mad at myself for standing up for Bieber..

what do you expect with a concert.....your going to have loud fans and loud music so everyone can hear it.... last time I went to a concert I took earplugs just in case and I did have to use them and could still hear the music

so really I think shes not going to get the 9million reward...but if she does then every concert will have signs saying "warning load music, fans, ...etc" just like how they have "warning contents hot" on those foam coffee cups at the corner stores

is this girl serious? she "lost" her hearing at his concert? she's bullshxtting. of all the shows i've been to (and they've all been metal shows), i've been fine. no hearing loss or anything. she's just making an excuse to try to get money out of him.

Justin Beiber? Really? Try Judas Priest ! Try Megadeth! Better yet TRY PANTERA !! The concerts i went to would vibrate your bones. This candy ass crap these days is NOTHING! If you have been to a REAL concert ...................you HAVE hearing damage , it goes with the territory.

The concerts I've been to at least for sure, if you get too close to the front it's no longer music, just a loud noisy killing your ears.

I suppose it is possible though that the fans all screamed so loud that it damaged the woman's hearing... but she knew there would be screaming there and the risk of hearing loss. I don't see why she is suing Justin though if she claims it was the fan's fault.

I used to work at concert venues when I was in my teens. Earplugs were part of the uniform. Although it did no good if you were near the speakers and you got that sensation in your chest.

Going to a rock concert and not expecting deafening noise is the person's fault. I've gone to country music concerts and have had my ears to hurt due to the loud speakers. I can't understand the need for cranking up the volume that loud unless the music is so bad they don't want anyone to know.

It is annoying as hell when half or more of the people there scream at the beginning of every single song so loud that you can't hear the music itself.

Our office on campus did a noise study to see the noise level was in one of the rock concerts. Standing half way back in the audience, the noise level exceeded 120 dBA. Hearing damage will start to occur after 10 minutes at this level in the concert if you are not using hearing protection. The noise level is approximately equivalent to a chain saw running at full operating speed.

*Begin sarcasm* Yeah, because I go to a concert expecting it to be quiet. I know nobody else there will make a fuss or be excited to see the performers. We'll all just stand around, being quiet and mellow. Because that's how concerts work. *End sarcasm*

This woman is a complete tool. You pays your money and you takes your chances. Based on her actions, I should sue Def Leppard because I stood in front of their speaker stack for the entire concert and now the hearing in my left ear isn't what it used to be. And that's their fault right? It couldn't possibly be my fault even though I'm the one that stood there and didn't move the whole time. Dude! I could totally cash in!

I use to live down the way from the fairgrounds and when bands played you may not have been able to hear the crowd so well from my apt but you could hear the music loud enough to where if you were out having a smoke you could hear every note.

They're both pretty loud, particularly if the band or musician in known for their fan girls. However, if you go to a concert, you are assuming the risks that come with it being loud. Don't like it? Stay home or bring earplugs.

Haha, bitches be trippin'. Since there is no category I want, I chose this one. I love loud music, I'll love it till I become deaf.
That woman is ridiculous. You're going to a concert, where you know people are going to be loud, and all the teeny-bopper's go nuts over him. Why would you go in there not expecting to loose some hearing. Bring earplugs. Don't be stupid, then expect you're going to win this lawsuit, it's not gonna happen.

Maybe. But I think there's a good chance the judge will toss it. When you go to a concert there's implied risk that it will be loud.
