Ever since Justin Bieber chopped off his signature swoop and started dating Selena Gomez, the 17-year-old teen idol has been making a concerted effort to appear more mature.

And in light of plans to start recording his sophomore album, he's taking some down time to catch up on all that growing up he missed out on over the last couple of years.

"I've been working so hard," Bieber told The Hollywood Reporter. "I'm taking a month off. It's been great to just think and enjoy hanging out with my friends."

He continued, "I'm still growing up, and when you're working every day, you don't really get a chance to figure out who you are. So with the time off, I'm able to think, pray and just kind of grow up. [Plus], I've been sleeping in a lot."

Well, now would be the perfect time. We don't think the Biebs will ever make quite the commotion he did with "My World 2.0," but once he gets to work on his next album, start looking into vaccinations. The Fever can effect even the most sensible of teenage girls.

I didn't know we had that choice!!!! I want to go back to the time when my mom made my bed and I skipped school, smoked pot, drank boones farm, listened to music and had unprotected sex with whatever girlfriend I had recently fell in love with... WOW that was a hard life! Grow up WTF kind of question is that!

Yeah, if you think about it he's only 17, he needs time to be a kid and hang out with his friends.
I'm not fan of Justin Bieber, at all, and yeah he could lose some fans but dedicated ones (like my sister) will always look out to see if he's doing something new and you never know, if he comes back with something else he might even widen his fan base.

But he's not gonna grow up in a month. Please. And I hate to see Salina Gomez ruin her rep with a little boy. He is going to be a has been and if she stays with him she will be to. No one will take her serious. Its already kinda hard to now. Justin is already fading out he just has not got the memo yet. Lol

I think it is a good idea to just be a kid for a month. He needs more than that but who am I to say. All the people that make fun of him or call him names need to grow up. I think most of them are just having insecurities in their own life. "Grown Ups" don't need to hate on Justin just because he is making a lot of money and making a lot of young girls happy. I am a mom to two of those young girls and if they want to idolize this boy then I think that is great! There are worse off things and people they could be idolizing!

You can't just decide to grow up. Growing up just happens. It usually takes more than a month. God, this kid is an idiot. He should just cover the Pull-Ups theme song. "I'm a big kid now."

His entire career is based on his high pitched voice as a result of NOT growing up. And what does he mean "grow up" in a month? What? How do you grow up in a month? It's every childs dream to grow up and be independent but many child stars who have grown up have lost their careers and popularity which means they are for the most part broke. Biebers demographic is kids. At his age he is attracting 6 year olds who want to marry him so grfowing up may not be good for the pocketbook so to speak.

Well he is 17, every kid has that moment where they recognized it's time for them to be mature. But its nice that he's taking some time to be to himself, since he's been non-stop for to years straight. Has much stuff that comes his way, I think it's a good idea, just to get away from all hateful people, fans, and Hollywood stars.
