Honestly, I am so tired of this "skinny vs curvy" crap. Either way, it makes people feel bad about themselves. Curvy people get upset because of skinny girls being plastered on magazines and what not, but are skinny people not allowed to feel bad too? I am skinny by nature and I see stuff posted on sites (especially facebook) that say things like, "Only dogs like bones" and "Curvy women are better" etc. That makes me feel bad about myself. I've been petite my whole life. People should be trying to make everyone feel okay with their body, not raging wars against which body type is best.

Who the hell cares, she's gorgeous either way. Really sick of hearing things like this, here we are trying to teach young girls that being your perfect self is enough and then there are these things that teach people to overlook natural beauty and shoot straight for "how- I- feel -you- should -look" reaction. Women are not supposed to look like anything in particular when it comes to beauty, it is and will always be true that beauty is in the eye of the beholder.

I've already made this statement on this site a few times already, but I'll do it once again.Curves denote a hint of danger and excitement! You don't see ads for sports cars showing them on straight narrow roads. They are usually shown on a winding curvy road!

I voted for "Curvy", but I am constantly amazed when I am out and I see couples which are a guy with a good body with an obese (not "plus-sized") woman! I know, "but she has a great personality!" is what I'm gonna hear on this post. But judging from her looks, she might be a great cook and that's what the guy loves about her!

I got news for you, seattleman, this woman is NOT skinny. Look at the calves of her legs. They are not skinny - bigger than mine for sure, and I'm sure not skinny.

You're right, she's not skinny. I would call her "Shapely". As in - the perfect shape.

Unfortunately, "Shapely" was not an answer choice.

I don't prefer women to be anything. If your healthy and happy with the way you look, then own it. I guess everyone has their own definition but when I think of curvy I refer to it as a "slim woman with hips, thighs, breast and butt", not plus size but they can be curvy too.

True definition of the word curvaceous

Take a good look at that picture. Does it look like they did a little "work" on that photograph around the wais and hip area with lighting cutting off a bit in that area or making it appear less. We live in a time when you can't really believe everything you see if it's photography.

Yes I agree, I said the same thing to myself when I saw it, That is a bad picture to use due to the chopping but it was a good example to show off her curves.

I don't know what simpleton writes these dumb questions -

FIRST the blog title says someone LOST 50 lbs. THAT would indicate the woman was like waaay overweight and just plain phat. SECOND: If someone loses 50 lbs. that would just about render them somewhere close to curvy or slim depending on body frame. THIRD the two pics shown in the pic above - one on a magazine cover showing a curvy, svelte lovely, and the other next to it a pic of the same lady as needing to shape up and maybe lose 10-20 lbs. (who btw is NOT skinny!).

Your caption or title says she lost 50 lbs - that most likely, would bring her to downright skinny or emaciated - and that is NOT pictured. There is a HUGE difference between what the blog is calling 'skinny' vs. 'curvy'. This is skinny vs curvy::

Before and after pic of model skinny ...Alot has to do with body frame and weight distribution on that frame.

I honestly like both. Some people look good skinny, some people look good curvy. I think it all comes down to bone structure. Ive seen some super skinny girls Im like uggg and some that are skinny and I think their hot. I like curvy girls but there is a difference between being curvy and being overweight. Im not saying Id never date an overweight girl (I was crazy about an overweight girl for 8 years) but if honestly asked if I'm attracted to that, no I'm not. I do like some curves though. In the end though it all comes down to the person inside the packaging. Theres one thing I don't like though and thats chicks that tan all the time. If I wanted to date leather have a nice jacket and belt.

Good attitude - you're an equal opportunity guy! I especially like what you said about the tanning. That's just dangerous if they are using a tanning bed, and most who are really serious about it use one. T

I am not going to answer that question because I could care less as I am a woman, but I will tell you a little bit about me. I was 5 feet 4 inces tall and weighed 95 pounds from the time I was in high school till I was 32 years old. I was an absolute rail. And I had dates all the time - every week I could have 3 to 4 dates if I wanted to. I thought I looked terrible - I was flat chested and didn't have a curve to my body. I was very unhappy being that skinny - I just wanted to look what I perceived as normal. I wanted hips and boobs and nice legs. Sometime around my mid-thirties I developed panic disorder and was put on anti-depressant drugs. I had gained all I wanted to gain - I was still small but not so terribly skinny. The drugs made me start gaining weight, and apparently wreaked havoc on my metabolism. I have been battling with weight gain ever since. And I am here to tell you that if you are skinny and healthy be thankful and give thanks. I remember how agile I was when I was thin - how simple it was to do certain things. When you have been skinny as long as I was and suddenly end up in a "lumpy" dumpy body, it's overwhelming - I just went right past curvy and did not stop. I am stil unhappy with my body. And I let questions like this influence how I feel.
  • fcombs fcombs 2012/07/21 21:21:44

I guess what I was trying to say is that sometimes it's not overeating that makes a person gain weight - it can be health issues and medication. How many women do you suppose have not taken medicine they needed because of their fear of being overweight? These questions are not fair, and they do not promote good health.

Ive dated skinny girls and curvy girls. One thing I know for sure you can't sum up a girl by what her size is.

There was a babysitter that worked up the street from me when i was little. She tanned so much she was covered in freckles and her body was bronze. I don't see how people think that looks good.

We shouldn't use "curvy" in this context. If you have excess weight, that's not a "curve," that's fat, and it's more likely to "fold" than "curve." If you're naturally curvy, that's great, but people who are just overweight shouldn't put themselves in the same category.

Ah, one of the classic Internet questions.

I would have to say athletic and healthy, actually, no matter what the size. Though I would rather have a little less fat than a little extra for a more youthful appearance. Personally.

And as always, I have to agree...Skinny does not mean you are not curvy. It might mean that there is less fat in the curves, but plenty of very thin women still maintain an hourglass figure.

Curves, please. Women are supposed to be warm and soft. Skinny chicks are like what I'd imagine sleeping with a bicycle would be like. And skinny chicks are usually self absorbed and have none of the nurturing qualities that a warm soft woman does. Half of them are indistinguishable from little boys. Totally unstimulating.

It is a mean, hateful and bitter comment from a mean, hateful and bitter man. His only concern is his penis, not how a woman may feel about her body shape.
