Jonathan Frid Passed away on Friday the 13th (April 13, 2012 ) He was known to millions of fans as Barnabas Collins -- A 200 year old vampire that was freed from his chained coffin and interacted with the present day Collins family with a host of Ghosts , witches and werewolves. The show was on ABC from 1966 --1971 . The new Dark Shadows Movie opens at theatres on May 11 , 2012 starring Johnny Depp as Barnabas Collins . Jonathan Frid does make his final cameo appearance in the movie . Were you a Dark Shadows fan or still are one ?
