Jon Stewart has confessed that he once came very close to quitting “The Daily Show.” Speaking at the Montclair Film Festival over the weekend, he admitted that he was unimpressed with the show’s staff when he arrived in 1999, after replacing Craig Kilborn as the host.

According to Third Beat, Stewart said “what I did not realize is, a lot of the people who worked there were a******s." He talked about initial clashes with executives, saying “I wanted it to be satirical in the classic sense of the word… I walk in the door, into a room with the writers and producers, and the first thing they say is, 'This isn't some MTV b******t'... And then I was told not to change the jokes or improvise. [I told my agent], 'Get me the f**k out of this'. These people are insane.”

He said that it took him almost three years to feel comfortable at the show, after the show had experience a severe staff turnover. He has now worked on the show for 13 years. Are you glad he didn’t quit?

for one thing the guy really is smart. I've seen him go on Fox unscripted and just kick the dogshyt out of O'Reilly and Hannity. I wish Limbaugh would get out the safety of his fart filled radio booth and let Stewart have a swing at him.

FOX is one reason why The FCC should make sure The Media Outlets in any/all communities should not be owned/controlled by the few!
We get Only the News that profits them.

If you hate it sir, which I do not believe - why are you defending it?

The race card? you are the one who needs to grow up - seriously.

Yes, the race card is over played and it is of my personal opinion that someone from your lily-white state is not qualified to discuss racism in the first place. Come move to Houston to any of it's Ward's for a few months and if you survive, then we can sit down and really discuss racism.

My state may be lily white, but my son most definitely is not. I think that is a better qualifier than the lovely mountainous state in which I live. :-)

No he isn't gullible at all - that's why he knows Fox is faux. I stopped considering Fox worth listening too after picking holes in a half dozen stories of theirs several years ago. The bias is so great that it is suffocating. Sorry.

They completely lost all credibility when I noticed how often they 'accidentally' used the wrong footage in their stories or 'accidentally' identified an R as a D in some notable scandals. They intentionally propagandize. That's why the stupidest people will now speak to you with such authority today.

Why on Earth would it be a waste of time? Jon gives some of the best interviews around! Not to mention that he's not afraid to bash the left as hard as the right. He's pretty fair about that.

He's done two or three interviews with Marco & they're excellent. They get along well, though they don't always see eye to eye. They respect each other clearly. In fact, it's pretty clear that most of the Republicans Jon has on respect him... including O'Reilly.

In fact, this is one of the best interviews I've seen: http://www.thedailyshow.com/w...
Had Simpson run, I'd have voted for him in a heartbeat... if for no other reason but this interview. It's really fantastic.

Not any more. Steward, at one time, was truly funny. Then he went all Lenny Bruce; from that point on, his "humor" consisted of mocking and degrading anything conservative or religious while kissing Obama's ass on a daily basis. Now he's just another Liberal whore.

This is one interview that proves you wrong. The next is with Chris Christie. Then there are the ones with Marco Rubio.
Not to mention that he is just as hard on Obama & the Democrats as he is on the Republicans.
He doesn't kiss Obama's ass. He's just respectful to him when he's on his show (or about to be)... because he has class. But when Obama screws up, Stewart is not afraid to point it out & belittle the error as hard as he does anyone else.

exactly on the point he dumbs down news to the point of idiocy. Only value he has is to laugh at him.

    I disagree.
In my opinion what he does is to point out how ridiculous the things in the news actually are. He isn't dumbing-down the news, the people in the news & the news agencies themselves are doing increasingly dumber things. He just points them out... & yes, he makes fun of those things. But what the hell is wrong with that? I mean, if our system & the people in it are going to continually do such ridiculous things, then why not make fun of them? We do that with fictional characters on all those dumb sitcoms. Why not do that with real-life characters screwing up our nation?
There has always been opposition in our politics... which is why our Founding Fathers set our system up the way they did, so that one side/class/"party" would never gain 100% control. Jon happens to play a vital role in our media.
I don't agree with his perspective a lot of the time, but I still appreciate his perspective. I also believe that our media & our society would be a lot worse off without him. We have got to be able to see the negatives as well as the positives. If we are unable to do that, we're in more trouble than we can imagine. Jon just points these things out with humor.
The thing is, when I'm done laughing, I'm sometimes to the point of tears because it's clear how badly our system is failing our people.

He's a left wing loon himself and skews his simpleminded version of the news against Republicans far more than Democrats. He completely ignores issues to like all liberals to cover up for the myriad of failures they perpetrate against the constitution, the people and freedom. Only to nit pick petty things against Republicans. He is a useless twit.

It seems to me that he picks on both sides quite a lot. Of course, the folks at Fox take care of picking on the Dems, for the most part, but Stewart gets his licks in as well.
Whatever. We just disagree is all.

I'd lose sleep like a child the night before Christmas waiting for a Stewart-Limbaugh confrontation. come to think of it Stewart could smoke him out his lair if he would just do a Limbaugh segment about once or twice a week. THAT'S the 'culture war' as I see it. Bullshyt versus brains.
