Jon Stewart has confessed that he once came very close to quitting “The Daily Show.” Speaking at the Montclair Film Festival over the weekend, he admitted that he was unimpressed with the show’s staff when he arrived in 1999, after replacing Craig Kilborn as the host.

According to Third Beat, Stewart said “what I did not realize is, a lot of the people who worked there were a******s." He talked about initial clashes with executives, saying “I wanted it to be satirical in the classic sense of the word… I walk in the door, into a room with the writers and producers, and the first thing they say is, 'This isn't some MTV b******t'... And then I was told not to change the jokes or improvise. [I told my agent], 'Get me the f**k out of this'. These people are insane.”
He said that it took him almost three years to feel comfortable at the show, after the show had experience a severe staff turnover. He has now worked on the show for 13 years. Are you glad he didn’t quit?

Yes, I love Jon Stewart!+26for one thing the guy really is smart. I've seen him go on Fox unscripted and just kick the dogshyt out of O'Reilly and Hannity. I wish Limbaugh would get out the safety of his fart filled radio booth and let Stewart have a swing at him.

We get Only the News that profits them.
The race card? you are the one who needs to grow up - seriously.

He's done two or three interviews with Marco & they're excellent. They get along well, though they don't always see eye to eye. They respect each other clearly. In fact, it's pretty clear that most of the Republicans Jon has on respect him... including O'Reilly.
In fact, this is one of the best interviews I've seen: http://www.thedailyshow.com/w...
Had Simpson run, I'd have voted for him in a heartbeat... if for no other reason but this interview. It's really fantastic.
This is one interview that proves you wrong. The next is with Chris Christie. Then there are the ones with Marco Rubio.
Not to mention that he is just as hard on Obama & the Democrats as he is on the Republicans.
He doesn't kiss Obama's ass. He's just respectful to him when he's on his show (or about to be)... because he has class. But when Obama screws up, Stewart is not afraid to point it out & belittle the error as hard as he does anyone else.
His are some of the best interviews around.

In my opinion what he does is to point out how ridiculous the things in the news actually are. He isn't dumbing-down the news, the people in the news & the news agencies themselves are doing increasingly dumber things. He just points them out... & yes, he makes fun of those things. But what the hell is wrong with that? I mean, if our system & the people in it are going to continually do such ridiculous things, then why not make fun of them? We do that with fictional characters on all those dumb sitcoms. Why not do that with real-life characters screwing up our nation?
There has always been opposition in our politics... which is why our Founding Fathers set our system up the way they did, so that one side/class/"party" would never gain 100% control. Jon happens to play a vital role in our media.
I don't agree with his perspective a lot of the time, but I still appreciate his perspective. I also believe that our media & our society would be a lot worse off without him. We have got to be able to see the negatives as well as the positives. If we are unable to do that, we're in more trouble than we can imagine. Jon just points these things out with humor.
The thing is, when I'm done laughing, I'm sometimes to the point of tears because it's clear how badly our system is failing our people.
Whatever. We just disagree is all.
It's all good.
Like I said, you & I simply disagree on his value. That's all.
No worries.
