Jon Stewart has confessed that he once came very close to quitting “The Daily Show.” Speaking at the Montclair Film Festival over the weekend, he admitted that he was unimpressed with the show’s staff when he arrived in 1999, after replacing Craig Kilborn as the host.

According to Third Beat, Stewart said “what I did not realize is, a lot of the people who worked there were a******s." He talked about initial clashes with executives, saying “I wanted it to be satirical in the classic sense of the word… I walk in the door, into a room with the writers and producers, and the first thing they say is, 'This isn't some MTV b******t'... And then I was told not to change the jokes or improvise. [I told my agent], 'Get me the f**k out of this'. These people are insane.”

He said that it took him almost three years to feel comfortable at the show, after the show had experience a severe staff turnover. He has now worked on the show for 13 years. Are you glad he didn’t quit?

for one thing the guy really is smart. I've seen him go on Fox unscripted and just kick the dogshyt out of O'Reilly and Hannity. I wish Limbaugh would get out the safety of his fart filled radio booth and let Stewart have a swing at him.

Someone needs to expose the hypocrisy of politicians, since the traditional media isn't doing it very much.

Jon exposes any political hypocrisy he can get his teeth into... just so happens there's more of it on the "facts are what we say they are" right than the "reality-based" left.

It's not just the RWNJ that he goes after. It's media that is his target. And not just FOX. He tries to hold media's feet to the fire. Please watch this 12 minute piece that is his closing remarks the the Rally to Restore Sanity in October 2010 and let me know what you think.

Stewart is a hack comedian, and a Marxist mouthpiece. I laugh at morons who actually believe his show has political value. It's nothing but extremist, far-left propaganda. I voted he should have quit, but really didn't mean it. I didn't want to confuse some low information liberal into thinking I side with them. I want leftist morons on tv as much as possible. It gives Americans a chance to see how completely unhinged leftists are.

You obviously have not watched his show or paid any attention to what he believes. Please take a minute to listen and then tell me what you think of his comments. Does anything he says in this sound marxist?

I don't understand what you mean. In this piece he clearly challenges all of us to get along regardless of our differences. In fact he points out how we actually do that "every damn day". His name calling is focused on the media, all of the 24 hour news cycle that hypes everything. This is neither right or left, conservative or liberal. Did you actually listen?

I was talking about the negative posters, here on this thread, not Jon Stewart himself. I fear your examples are without impact, people seem to want to embrace their hate and their delusions, and ignore even the most obvious of facts.
I think Stewart is quite sharp, gives fair and insightful interviews, and funny as anyone can be. Sorry for the misunderstanding. As I said before on this thread, Best Show on TV.

Quite the opposite. I, like so many others, have studied the writings of Marx and Engles during philosophy study. while I think it important to know and understand what their ideas were and what marxism is, I disagree with them completely.

But of course you would know that if you had bothered to read my profile, my previous posting, and actually had a working knowledge of what marxism is.

Say what you like but your wrong. I do watch FOX NEWS, some. I also watch msnbc, some. However, I make no pretense of accepting either as an unbiased new source. FOX is in the entertainment business and seeks to program to a specific demographic. They are not the only problem in media but are are surely part of the problem. One must look hard to find a journalist on TV. But, one things for sure, you won't find one on FOX or msnbc.

You don;t have to be a FOX lover or hater to recognize their right wing agenda. That;s not to say they do not have a roll to lay, they do. I don't claim they are right, wrong, evil, or sainted. The fact is they are a conservative centered entertainment network. The following is from a broadcast today:

"Speaking live on Fox News, Mike Huckabee said that this shooting happened because "we've systematically removed God from our schools." He added, "Maybe we ought to let [God] in on the front end, and we wouldn't have to call him to show up when it's all said and done."

Whether or not Mr. Huckabee is right or wrong is another debate. Choosing to air his comments is not journalism. It's catering to the network's target audience and politicizing a tragic event that is news that cries out for a journalist.

Commentary happens all over cable tv. Huckabee has a right to his beliefs. You have a right to your opinions, no matter how wrong they are.

Regardless of how I feel about his comedy or political beliefs, it definitely shows some real perseverance for him to stick around and try to reconcile the differences between him and his staff. Most people in showbiz would call it quits the second they find out they can't get their way all the time. I got loads of respect for the dude.
