UK music mag NME ran a poll for six months asking their readers, "Who is your Ultimate Music Icon of the last 60 years?" Over 160,000 votes were cast and not too surprisingly, John Lennon came out on top.

Runners up included David Bowie, Kurt Cobain, and Jimi Hendrix among others. You can see the full list when their new issues hits newsstands Wednesday, but who would you deem as your ultimate music icon?

There are bigger icons (including the others on this list) but I love Kurt Cobain. Listening to Nirvana when I was younger is what really got me into music.

It's too hard to say just one, but my favorite would most likely be James Brown, followed by Barry White, Marvin Gay, Rick James and of course Michael Jackson.
