Jerome Bettis faked an injury to avoid being cut from the Steelers... Is this ok?

		He did what he had to do to stay on the team... Im fine with it

		What he did was wrong, just as its wrong for normal employees to fake an illness, but nothing can be done about it now

Here's an excerpt from a new book Bettis is coming out with:

"I wasn't faking that I had an injury. I was just faking that the injury happened on that short-yardage play. I had to fool the coaches and the team's medical department into thinking the injury had occurred on that play. Otherwise, the Steelers would have had their reason to cut me and my salary. "

So, Sodaheads, do you think what Jerome Bettis did was ok? Or were his actions wrong...

Jerome Bettis did what he had to do at the time to survive. I am not at all upset with him. Others have done worse and got away with it and I see no difference in what he did. He got just what he deserved and that is to retire in peace with lot of money to survive.

Like people have never called in sick to go to a ball game or see their
childs play. Looking back at his career, I don't think that the
Steelers feel that they got gyped.

good question - but no - i take a personal day or vacation and since i almost never use up all of it, i've not had a problem with it.

I truly hope that you never have to go through all of your sick leave.
I watched my aunt use up all of her federal sick leave and vacation
time due to a heart surgery and then kidney and liver failure.
Fortunately we got her onto disability, so she didn't have to pay the
cost of dialsys for the last two months of her life.

Thank you for your kind words - I am truly sorry for your family going through the trials of your aunt and her disability. It must've been so hard for her.

Not really, she should have been dead long before from her heart
murmer, so she took each day as a new gift from God. When the time
came, she threw a party for all of her friends to say good-bye.
