Jennifer Lawrence hosted “Saturday Night Live” this weekend, to somewhat tepid reviews. But the thing that has most people talking is her monologue dissing her fellow Oscar nominees. Lawrence is nominated for her role in “Silver Linings Playbook,” for which she took home the Golden Globe last weekend. She is up against Jessica Chastain for "Zero Dark Thirty," Emmanuelle Riva for "Amour," Quvenzhané Wallis for "Beasts of the Southern Wild" and Naomi Watts for "The Impossible."
“The Hunger Games” star gave a quick one-liner about each actress, one-by-one, noting why she would beat her. Of Chastain she said, “Jessica Chastain – more like Jessica Chast-aint winning no Oscar on my watch.” She joked that Watts was “in ‘The Impossible.’ You know what else is impossible, you beating me on Oscar night.” For Wallis she quipped, “You think you can beat me? What you talkin’ ‘bout, Wallis?” And lastly when it came to Riva she said, “An 85-year-old French lady? I think I can take you.”
Some thought it was Lawrence’s delivery of the jokes, which fell flat, while others blamed the writers. What do you think? Were Jennifer Lawrence’s “SNL” jokes funny or awkward?

I see her doing some animation voice work.
They just don't look very funny. Maybe if I heard her delivery, I'd think differently (though this article does think that fell flat, so...) but they're not clever jokes. That's on the writers of her script, though. Perhaps she could possibly deliver the lines so they'd be funny, but they aren't funny jokes.
Not that the show was all that funny either. SNL has been in another of it's slumps for a little bit. Maybe they will find the talent to pull back out of this one but maybe it's just time for the show to go.
