Shortly after Whitney Houston’s death was confirmed on the eve of the Grammys, Executive Producer Ken Ehrlich and his team scrambled to rework the awards show to include a segment dedicated to the pop legend. The team chose Jennifer Hudson to perform a “respectful musical tribute” during the CBS broadcast.
"It's too fresh in everyone's memory to do more at this time, but we would be remiss if we didn't recognize Whitney's remarkable contribution to music fans in general, and in particular her close ties with the Grammy telecast and her Grammy wins and nominations over the years," said Ehrlich.
30-year-old Jennifer Hudson has been a lifelong fan of Whitney Houston. Only a few hours before Houston’s death, Hudson talked to Piers Morgan about how as a young girl she would create duets with Whitney’s hit song “I Will Always Love You.” In 2008, Houston presented Hudson with her first Grammy for Best R&B; Album (for her record “Jennifer Hudson”). Hudson has often said that meeting her idol “almost overshadowed getting the Grammy.”

Chaka Khan will also play some role in the tribute performance.
What do you think SodaHeads? Was Jennifer Hudson the right choice for the Whitney Houston Grammys tribute?

No+9While Hudson is a great singer she has a strong husky voice. Whitney was calm and soothing. Maybe somebody like Mariah Carey.

Award, Jennifer's heart was heavy with sadness to give it her best like she did at the BET Award which is very (because of Whitney's death) understandable. But she was great, and did her very best!!!
Edit: lol, so I've seen it now. Jennifer has such a beautiful voice; the performance was just stunning.
