Hip hop's favorite power couple is ditching meat and dairy... but not for good. Jay Z and Beyonce are following a vegan diet for 22 days. "On December 3rd, one day before my 44th birthday, I will embark on a 22 Days challenge to go completely vegan, or as I prefer to call it, plant-based!!” Jay Z wrote on his lifestyle website, Life and Times.

The rapper says that the challenge came from a "good friend" and that part of the reason he picked 22 days specifically is because psychologists say it takes 21 days to make or break a habit. So by the 22nd day, your new lifestyle has reached a level of stability.

What do you have to say about the fact that Jay Z and Beyonce are going vegan? Could you become vegan for 22 days? Are you already vegan or vegetarian? Do you think you could even manage to change your diet for life?

I would have a steak on day 45, ribs on day 46, fried chicken on day 47...Just think how good all that meat would taste after 44 days of tofu, salad, and beans!

If I had their disposable income, I'm sure I could buy non-animal food that beats anything that's now a regular part of my diet.

I'm sure being vegan would be easy if you are rich and have your own chefs and you don't even have to lift a finger

Maybe if I was rich and could afford decent vegan food. But until then, Taco Bell every night sounds pretty good and affordable.
  • Mangus ~Cambre... 2013/12/09 18:01:36
Taco bell is about the only fast food place I go to as they strangely quiet about there removing HFCS from all the menu items they could which is a good thing as while the corn industry says HFCS is safe and same as sugar but it totally banned from baby food while sugar is common so How safe is HFCS realty? on top of that the corn industry will not even answer why
  • lucy.troke ~Cambre... 2013/12/09 20:21:12
exactly what I was thinking, they can afford to have someone specially pick out vegan food and prepare it, I REALLY cant.

I could do it for 22 days, yeah. I already don't eat dairy, so I'd only have to cut out meat and eggs. I know tons of veg food. Mexican food, burritoes, nachoes, vegetable curries, chickpea soup....I could totally do it.

I don't even understand. It's unfortunate that we live in a world based on death. When two animals meet in the same territory, a fight will proceed. When two humans have interests that do not run parallel, a fight may occur unless they overcome their instinct. It makes me wonder why people try to save animals like the jaguar when it will rip their throats out in return. The question is, why can't we stand hand in hand?

I'm omnivorous. I need vegies fruit, and grains. However, I also need meat, fish,
dairy, and some poultry, as well.

Beef has been pretty tough lately. But I really don't care what Beyonce or Jay Z do, they can go and have dinner with Michelle and eat her healthy stuff then Obama can drool over Beyoncé.
  • Gypsy donisue 2013/12/09 16:20:13
Or it could possibly be Jay Z he's drooling over!
