It's been exactly 36 years since
Steven Spielberg released his classic shark thriller, "Jaws," and even now, the
world-class director wonders what can still be done with the 1975 film.
Though Spielberg says he doesn't want to make another sequel, he admitted to Ain't It Cool that he still dreams about it.
He explained, "I have a very, very good scene which I thought would have been good for a sequel someday, which I will tell you someday because I don’t want it in print. But I’ll tell you my scene some day. Every time I think of this scene I think, 'Hmmm, could this be another 'Jaws' movie?' and I have to immediately stop myself and immediately pull myself back down to Earth."
"Jaws" is considered the first great "
summer blockbuster," and set the trend for summer movie releases, even down to how widely the films are distributed to theaters.
It won three Oscars -- for editing, score and sound -- but lost Best Picture to "One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest."
However...there is always room for improvement.
Jurassic Park is a strong contender.
And yes, I've seen the SAW movies. They were so bloody it was mostly gross instead.
Why I say the movie is scary, is because it was the #1 reason kids would not go swimming in the ocean after it came out. I was one of them.
to put in a few cents more:
ABSOLUTE WORST: Megalodon (that's an hour and a half of my life i'll never get back)
FUNNIEST: 8 legged freaks (the sounds they make.. Hilarious!)
It's fun to watch, tho...
*(Warning: post may contain sarcasm)
but i dnt find it the scariest
