Jason Segel to leave How I Met Your Mother Will the show be the same without him?
Say it ain’t so Jason! TV Guide reports that Segel’s recent interview with Austrian site, Kurier may point to the departure of his beloved character, Marshall Eriksen from CBS’s How I Met Your Mother. Segel’s translated quote reads:
It’s great to do some ‘Rated R’ stuff again, because I’ve been
playing the nice guy for quite a long time now. That’s why I’m gonna
quit How I met your Mother after the eighth season.
Seems pretty concrete to us, but a rep for the actor was quick to dismiss the statement as a simple mistranslation.
Perhaps something got lost in translation, but season 9 hasn’t even been addressed yet
Just a few days ago, CBS boss, Nina Tassler spoke about her hope for a
ninth season for the Emmy-winning show, and it’s understandable that
CBS want to keep things under wraps until i’s are dotted and t’s are
crossed, but we can’t help but get a bad feeling about this.
Segel’s departure would have massive consequences for the show.
Marshall and Lily (Alyson Hannigan)’s rock-steady relationship has been
at the emotional heart of the series since it’s beginning, and what
about little Marvin Wait-for-It Eriksen! If Marshall goes, Lily and
their newborn baby would have to go too, leaving just Ted, Robin and
Barney and a pretty empty looking booth at MacLaren’s.
The most sensible bet seems to be to end the series and after an
eight season long story about how Ted met the mother of his children, it
may be time.
How I Met Your Mother returns for it’s eighth and potentially final season, on September 24th.

He's like... my favorite character.
And what'll happen to him and Lily?!!
