Japan's off-kilter pop culture is notorious --
CGI superstars, surreal reality shows, and adult animation were all popularized there -- so it might come as no suprise that Japan is home to one of the youngest pop stars on the planet, Mana Ashida. At 7 years old, Ashida has starred in a dozen movies, countless commercials, and already made it to the top 10 on Japan's music charts. And we thought
Willow Smith was starting off young!
Ashida is certainly the most successful young pop star in Japanese pop culture, but she isn't the first or only one to make it big. According to The Atlantic, pre-adolescent pop groups are growing by the year. And they're not without controversy. One boy band, with members who are about 14 years old on average, is called Sexy Zone, named after "Michael Jackson's sexiness." You can probably deduce where the controversy comes in. Do you think Ashida is too young for this kind of career, or is it just an adorable trend?
At 7 she should learning how to write complete sentences and simple vocabulary.
Her handlers already have her itinerary planned. Activity everyday, meeting new and interesting people, people who adore her and her talents. She is living the life. I doubt it is stressful...as it is interesting, and like being on an extended playdate. (fun) And her life is enhanced for it. Child stars often get a better education being tutored (one on one) than common children, so do not worry she is leaving something behind.
What I worry, is when she enters puberty, and all that adoring attention might go away. She needs to evolve like Shirley Temple did, and other child stars. But, the money in a trust will certainly make life a lot sweeter.
Constantly working is never going to always be fun for a 7 year old. That's hours of work every single day. It's not if she's getting the education she needs (I'm sure she's getting GREAT education) or if she's having fun; it more of if it's right for her to be doing ALL that.
But he did get to see the world, right?
And he had servants.
I'd say $450 million was a good ride, until he messed up.
A 7 years old:
Is stretching the definition of "pre-adolescent" a bit.
See the difference?
There is nothing wrong with making your money early.
She will live better than most of us out here.
