Japan's off-kilter pop culture is notorious --
CGI superstars, surreal reality shows, and adult animation were all popularized there -- so it might come as no suprise that Japan is home to one of the youngest pop stars on the planet, Mana Ashida. At 7 years old, Ashida has starred in a dozen movies, countless commercials, and already made it to the top 10 on Japan's music charts. And we thought
Willow Smith was starting off young!
Ashida is certainly the most successful young pop star in Japanese pop culture, but she isn't the first or only one to make it big. According to The Atlantic, pre-adolescent pop groups are growing by the year. And they're not without controversy. One boy band, with members who are about 14 years old on average, is called Sexy Zone, named after "Michael Jackson's sexiness." You can probably deduce where the controversy comes in. Do you think Ashida is too young for this kind of career, or is it just an adorable trend?
sing and act then they should make money from it then why should we stop them talent doesnt know any age so if you have talent like that by all means make some money from it and enjoy like
However, I'm reminded of this country's guilty-pleasure in AGT.
I think they're so young that they don't even know what they wanna do in their life. Their parents made the decision that they should be singing or making movies, not themselves. Maybe these kids wanted to be scientists, or businessmen, or teachers, and just wanted to study well at school. Who knows.
And we know that being a pop star is not just about fame and fortune. Whenever and wherever you are there are cameras around you. Who knows kids want a childhood with cameras and flash?
I'm a Japanese Major student. And teachers told us the stories about Geisha (the real Geisha story, not the hollywood movie). 5-year-old young girls were sent into okiya by their parents. They're not allow to go home again. It's like the parents abandon their little daughters. Maybe it's just the history
Not every child star grows up into a trainwreck.
Speaking of child stars, someone mentioned the olsen twins and it just reminded me of this video. Creepy even if they did slow it down lol.
Ok Idk how to add a youtube video so here is the link for it.
