Jamie Foxx has angered several Christian groups by referring to President Barack Obama as “our lord and saviour,” the biblical title for Jesus Christ, during the 2012 BET Soul Train Awards.

According to E! News, the star of the upcoming Quentin Tarantino movie “Django Unchained” took to the stage to praise Obama, saying "It's like church over here. It's like church in here. First of all, give an honor to God and our Lord and Savior Barack Obama."

The comments have caused fury in several Christian groups. Bill Donahue of the Catholic League for Religious and Civil Rights in the United States released a statement describing them as “startling,” while radio host Mary Walter said “It’s about a societal religion as opposed to a church religion, because if the government gives you everything, the government becomes your religion.” Do you think Foxx’s comments are blasphemous -- or not a big deal?

Jamie Foxx is a comedian. Lighten up people. And wingnuts can stop referring to the President as the liberal's messiah. As for Bill Donahue, his main job is to go on wingnut cable tv and be outraged over everything. He's a wingnut Catholic - nothing more, nothing less.

Some idiot Conservatives use the "messiah" bs on here everyday so if you have an issue with Foxx you're probably just proving what a hypocrite you are..

Conservatives, Mr. Fox is what is commonly referred to as a 'comedian'. He gets paid to say funny stuff and sometimes stuff that you may find offensive. However, don't worry on it too long.

    No little doubt that
Foxx, was with tongue in cheek, just repeating what the Right Wing have been spewing for four years, how the Left "worships and considers the President their Messiah". Throw in how we think "he walks on water" and viola you have yet more nonsense coming out and showing the double standard about why all of a sudden you're so offended. Get Real.

That is how Foxx views the president. We have seen many less-flattering views of him, and this is Foxx's way of expressing his opinion of the man. It is a First Amendment thing.

I don't need anyone taking care of me, but there are many who do, like those maimed in Bush's wars.

Never voted for Bush. But I do see the Arab Spring turning into the Winter of
Discontent. Wonder how many are maimed, dead or dying?

Never say never - no one knows who they will be needing.

Arab Spring probably won't turn out as the activists intended––revolutions seldom do, and that region has no tradition of democracy––but they fought the good fight, and many will continue to do so, as they are in Syria. Freedom is a powerful elixir, and people will gladly give their lives for a concept with which they have no familiarity.

Make up your mind. Is it Stalin or Hitler?
  • jean Jeremiah 2012/12/09 20:45:55

Well Hitler did admire Stalin a lot in the way he dealt with his enemies. Take your pick. They were both socialists -one international and the other national.

Again, you are putting too much credence in names. The word Socialist was present in "Nazi," but Nazi Germany was not socialist at all––remember, socialism is an economic term. The USSR stood for Union of Soviet Socialist Republics, which also was nonsensical. They no longer had use for the soviets, and it was definitely not a republic. They employed a form of socialism, but we have a form of socialism in the U.S.

A nation can use any label to identify itself––People's Republic of China–but it is not required to pass a test for accuracy.

Hitler had other ideas - you will be free to discuss it with him in eternity Jeremiah.
  • Jeremiah jean 2012/12/10 22:00:43

The only eternity is in the universe itself. The human race is a blink of an eye in the progression of life and matter, and this life is all we get.
  • jean Jeremiah 2012/12/11 14:14:50
    jean
So who/what do you think made the universe eternal? Who/what made life and matter? Who/what created science? Who/what set the order in the universe? As we all know - life come from death each and every day all around us.. Doesn't matter what we think - we can't change reality.

I suppose it was all invented by the magic man in the sky. It is an easy answer to everything, but it makes less sense as science learns more.
  • jean Jeremiah 2012/12/11 20:05:13
    jean
So who/what invented science Jeremiah? DUHHHHH!!!!!! lol
  • Jeremiah jean 2012/12/18 21:25:05
    Jeremiah
Early scientists. Who invents anything? Herodotus is said to have invented the study of history, and men like Anaximander and Aristotle are credited with the earliest study of science. Each discipline had its first proponent, who in turn learned from others.

If the magic man had invented them, he probably would have placed them on earth fully formed. And then how do we explain the existence of learning on other inhabited planets, since Jesus was born on this one?
  • jean Jeremiah 2012/12/19 14:45:48
    jean
Glad you know God's intent. What other inhabited planets? Have you been there?

Science it the study of what HAS BEEN CREATED - it doesn't claim to be able to create anything! Who/what created the order of science? Who/what created the components of all that has been created?

You are determined to persist in your mythology. I was raised with the same nonsense, but at some point one must realize it makes no sense. Religions have been a tidy way of controlling the masses through fear of damnation, but when they no longer sense the fear, the power of religion no longer exists.
  • jean Jeremiah 2012/12/19 19:15:40
    jean
Well Jeremiah you will get to meet your mythology face to face.
