It's the 15th Anniversary of Tupac's Death: Do You Miss Him?

The loss of Amy Winehouse earlier this year reminded us just how unsettling it is to lose an iconic figure when they're still in the prime of their life. It doesn't just silence the artist's voice, it reminds fans and onlookers how fragile life really is.

That's especially true in the case of Tupac Shakur, who was well on his way to becoming one of the most prominent rappers in the industry when he was shot down in Las Vegas in 1996. The hospital was able to keep him alive for six days before he passed away on the September 13, exactly fifteen years ago today.

He was 25 years old when he died.

Today, Shakur is widely regarded as one of the greatest American musicians of all time, and has sold more than 75 million albums, putting him in the same sales bracket as Beyonce, Eminem, Prince, Santana, and The Doors.

It's still unclear who killed Tupac, although a Brooklyn inmate, who claims to have shot the rapper two years earlier in a 1994 incident, says rap mogul James "Jimmy Henchman" Richmond ordered him to carry out the first shooting, which draws a direct line to Richmond as a suspect.

Other rap big-wigs, like Sean "Diddy" Combs and Marion "Suge" Knight, have also been accused of being involved, or at least of knowing who called the hit.

Shakur would have been 40 years old if he were alive today.

Did this post actually say, "one of the greatest American musicians of all time?" Come on SodaHead music, just cause someone sells a bunch of records, or gets a bunch of "hits," it doesn't mean anything about their skills as a musician - Rebecca Black anyone?

I never was a fan of his music. I don't miss him. But the way he died...being shot down, the way he was. There was something terribly tragic about that.

Tupac was aesthetically pleasing. I might paint him one of these days. I don't know, maybe.

Greatest american musician of all time??? Really? There is a list as long as my arm of better ones. Ones that didnt promote gang type behavior. Ones that didn't glorify violence. Anyway, of course I'm sorry he's dead, but soldiers greater than him die every day.

I was in the womb when he died (We REALLY need an undecided option) but I am a fan and it's sad to see that he died so young.

"I see no changes, all I see is racist faces. Misplaced hate makes disgrace for races we under. I wonder what it take to make this one better place, lets erase the wasted. Take the evil out the people they'll be acting right, cause both black and white is smoking crack tonight. And the only time we chill is when we kill each other. It takes skill to be real, time to heal each other." Racist my ass.
