This weekend, Rock of Ages, starring Tom Cruise, opened to a very disappointing 3rd Place ranking in the top movies of the weekend. It was no wonder - going against such competition as Madagascar 3 and Prometheus, the 80's rock film had no chance of going to first place. So the question remains - should they have waited to release Rock of Ages until a weekend where it would be more profitable? If so, is there any chance that Tom Cruise is being purposely set up to fail? The only #1 movie that Tom Cruise has had since his relationship with Katie Holmes started was Mission Impossible 3.
