Is todays Entertainment really Entertaining?

What will we be watching in ten years? Andy griffith reruns and shows from another era. Why? Because the garbage that is on TV is about as enduring as yesterday's icecream. TV now is all about NOW. Few shows will last. And good grief, the reality shows that we have to endure. Well... I don't. I had my cable turned off.

Which is why I do not watch.......

I chose yes only because I weed out what I think isn't entertaining~ I never watch any reality tv and I usually won't watch new programs because I hate it when I become interested in a program and then it is cancelled a month later~ If they last and become regularly broadcast then I will seek out the episodes I missed~

there are few & there are moments but mostly ... not at all.

Mainstream entertainment always seems overrated, except for a select few shows.

What the hell do I care who is screwing who and what is it going to change my life if Kelly hates James and James is screwing Sue who just broke-Up with Bill who just admitted he was gay and his mother is ok with it but his dad is pissed.

Dexter and Dr Who~~ Two that are truly entertaining~I watched Game of Thrones when it went to season 2~ before it started I watched the whole season one on demand~ It was interesting but TOO many uses of the "C#@T word ~

Lol I really want to check out Dr. Who, but i feel that i am way to far behind lol.
And with the Game of thrones...the novel versions are far more rougher lol

Hard to find truly entertaining programs but they are there. Love Dr. Who for example. lol Entertainment even though there are so many different options today don't seem to have anything that compares with say The Twilight Zone or Alfred Hitchcock's presents.

I also LOVE Doctor Who~ But never saw anyone other than David Pennent and Matt Smith~ I was sorry to see the Ponds written out of the series~ I thought Amy was extraordinary~ And Rory wasn't bad either~~

I agree. I also have only really seen David Pennent and Matt Smith. The earlier versions were a bit silly. A robot dog?

Not so much, reality shows are not much of an entertaining illusion.

To me. entertainment is something that's suppose to make you fell good and something to enjoy. You just want to get out of the realities of this world for a little while and enjoy something that kind of places you in another world. There's nothing wrong with drama, but it should not always be so dramatic...bloody. We already are facing a reality of evil, we don't need more in so called entertaiment.

Video games and certain shows are entertainment now adays

No because I have to hunt for ACTUAL entertainment. What is popular and what is selling is so shallow and bland. There are a few exceptions (Lady Gaga, Katy Perry) but this generation (last 8-10 years) is really forgetable at best. Bland and empty. Not even shocking like the 80s or 90s.

It is only entertainment to people who prefer crassness and vulgarity -- neither of which I find entertaining.

Is that language from watching tv and movies? It seems that younger ppl use this language on the net because it is acceptable in the entertainment industry~

Most of it belongs on Nickelodeon. It is geared towards those with the taste and intelligence of a 12 year old.

If you search through all the non entertaining there is much that is. There are just so many different mediums.

That is why we got rid of our TV service 3 years ago, nothing on and we do not support the media with our dollars anymore. Even the news is fake!

Of the choices given , I have to say "NO". yes, action and dramas are a lot better, the stunts are more complicated and amazing , but, " Decency & respect " have been throwned to the back. I was in the bis as a stuntman for 25 years, and i have to say, that I hate the fact that vulgar language, and raunchy sex scenes have become a MUST in order for most of the producers and directors, and Hollywood studios to think they have a winner. Steven Spieldberg and George Lucas are a rare fantastic exception to this. I grew up watching movies, t.v. shows and listenning to music from the "WHEN ENTRETAIMENT WAS ENTRETAIMENT " era. How can you compare the sweet romantic voice of Nat King Cole, Dean Martin, Frank Sinatra to that of tupac ? How can you compare the style and class of Sinatra, Elvis or The Beatles to that of rappers who labele themselves as singers, and come out grabing their crotches, with their pants half way down their butts, if they bend over your gonna want to throw up? How can you compare I LOVE LUCY to Rose Ann? For many reasons, I'm glad Ileft the bis. I have more respect for the phorno industry than today's so called ENTRETAIMENT , at least they are not hypocrites.

Now, this was called entertainment!
