Is Tiger Woods Still on Top?

For a long time, it seemed like the once-invincible Tiger Woods would never regain his place at the top of the crop of pro-golfers. He suffered through a humiliating personal crisis, where he admitted to marital infidelity in late 2009, and lost almost all of his sponsorships in 2010. The public flogging reduced the once-great ego to a humble, remorseful guy, who needed to do some major image reparation. As a result, his game suffered.

It took almost two years before he would win again, when he ended a 749-day losing streak by taking the title at the 2011 Chevron World Challenge. Now this week Tiger won the Farmers Insurance Open marking his 75th career title. He has not won this championship since 2008.

He told USA Today, "I'm excited about this year… I was excited about what I did last year, winning three times… Does it feel good? Yes. Does it give me confidence? Absolutely.” When they asked if he was ready to climb to the top he replied, “I never left.” What do you think? Is Tiger Woods still on top?

My favorite athlete. Tiger loves the game of getting the ball in the hole as fast as you can.

No. How could he; he never went away. How many years has it been that he's been playing golf poorly but still managing to be in every headline about the sport? "Tiger doesn't make cut,""Tiger finishes 18th...again""Somebody won, Tiger glares at valet attendant"

Now listen, I believe that Tiger Woods is getting back to the level he should be. Right now what will keep him from performing great is his driving which has sucked lately. I believe that he will surpass Sam Sneeds' record for the most wins, but Jack Nicklous record of Majors, just might be out his reach. Tiger caused his own competition. The young guns practice and take of themselves and have the true inner fortatude to take on anyone.

Not yet. For that to be a reality at his level will mean he has to win at least one major this year!

Tiger Woods suffered a significant closed head injury when he crashed in escaping from his violent wife and/or when she dragged him out of the car and clubbed him. (Of course, if the genders had been reversed this would have been properly investigated and prosecution could have happened even without a complainant, but the 'pussy pass' for female crimes applies right throughout our system from police investigations, decisions to prosecute, treatment in Court to the sentences women receive.) Although the effects of closed head injury (including visual damage to stereopsis) can slowly be reduced they will never fully heal and this will impair Tiger's golfing skill forever. Of course, his skill was such that even with some reduction he will be capable of beating most competitors in his age range and it's even possible that he will regain top place in the golfing world, but at that level any small reduction in ability is likely to make the difference. Since the domestic violence his performance has not been what it was before and that's not mainly due to his emotions or self-esteem. His irritability and falling out with his long-time caddy and others were typical of post-concussional symptoms. We can expect to enjoy further wins from Tiger and possibly even some more time in top pl...

We can expect to enjoy further wins from Tiger and possibly even some more time in top place, but we will not see the performances that we would have seen if his ex-wife had not reacted violently to his infidelity. However, he will remain 'on top' for a long time yet as an appealing star and the most desirable, fascinating golfer to invite to your tournament.

Not until he wins one or more majors. Most likely, he will be very good, but not the dominant force he once was.

Not really. Oh, he'll still win the odd tournament because he's still Tiger Woods, but is he still a power to be reckoned with? Nope. He already peaked.

Are you freaking, freaking kidding me?! This guy hasn't won a freaking PGA title since 2008! That's way, way before we learn about the martial infidelities he's committed all throughout.
He's been out of the game for a very long time. I don't believe that even for a second that he's on top to this day and age. So he wins something for a change, big whoop. Until I see him become consistent with winning and what not, I'm not the least bit convinced or going to be persuaded to believe that he's back on top and all is good in the land of Tiger Wood's.
Besides his personal life, he's lost sponsorship, he's gotten beaten by numerous rookies that he's way better than, he's fired his catty driver, his coach left, and to top it all off, he wasn't playing at his very best! This guy has a long, long ways to go before I'm going to be convinced that he's back on top! No way I'm believing this!
