Is this the era of Philadelphia sports dominance?

Whether it be the Flyers going to the Stanley Cup finals last year, to the Phillies dominating in the playoffs in the last three years with the best pitching staff in MLB thanks to the addition of Cliff Lee, to the Eagles routinely winning the NFC East or wild card in recent years, and advancing deep into the playoffs in the last decade.

Of all the cities with 3 or 4 major sports, does any other measure up to Philadelphia in the last few years?

    No. Not even close.
Boston can claim the same with the Patriots and Celtics. Actually, I think the Pats and Celts have been more dominant in their sports than the Phils and Flyers have been in their own. I'm not sure about the thing with the Eagles. They haven't really been all "that" dominant.

The Phils won the World Series in 2008. The Eagles have never won the Super Bowl. The Sixers haven't won the NBA title since the 80s and I don't think the Flyers have won the Stanley Cup since the 70s. I'd say Boston has a better chance at dominance.

Being from Philadelphia my whole life and never caring much about a Philly sports team, especially the Eagles. I say NO. They have only won 1 championship in the last 27 years. Close only counts in horseshoes and hand grenades. And don't let the fans fool you. They act like they are just as important as the athletes who have dedicated their entire lives to the craft of becoming a professional athlete. These are the same fans who view a fight breaking out in the stands or waving to the Jumbotron (eventhough the camera is in a different location) with the same importance as a something that happens on the field. Phillies games are a summer place for the fans to get hammered drunk. Yes, there is a good product on the field. But the fair weather fans were no where to be found a few years back. Refinancing your house and selling family pets to pay for Super Bowl tickets is not a sign of passion towards your sports team. Its stupid!

In the last 10 seasons of each of the 4 Major Sports, Philadelphia has won only 1 championship. While other cities like:

    Los Angeles - 6*
    Boston - 6*
    New York - 4***
    Detroit - 3
    Pittsburgh - 3*
    San Antonio - 3
    Chicago - 2*
    Tampa Bay - 2**
    San Francisco - 1*
    Phoenix - 1
    St. Louis - 1
    Indianapolis - 1
    New Orleans - 1
    Baltimore - 1
    Denver - 1

    * The number of times a Philadelphia sports teams was beaten in the Playoffs or Finals by the eventual winner.

Side note - The Phillies did not dominate the playoffs this year when they lost to the SF Giants in 6 games in the NLCS.

The Sixers are curiously absent from the list. I wonder why?

    Don't mind what I say, though - I'm a disgusted Giants fan :-(

Philly has the strongest and most loyal fan base in the country. And if you want to try to argue that unarguable fact, then I'll just have to kick your ass.

They kicked ass today on the Giants. Down 31-3 at the half. Picked it up to 26-3 and then at 37 seconds left won on a 65 yard run for a TD.

    How 'bout them Iggles.
