Is the NBA Lockout Getting Ridiculous?

It is beginning to look a lot like Christmas. Well, possibly a Christmas with no games held by the National Basketball Association -- at least according to Commissioner Dave Stern. Stern already canceled the first two weeks of the NBA season and has drawn strong criticism. His detractors will not be happy with this news.

"Right now, Tuesday, Tuesday, Tuesday, just before my owners come into town, having brought in the labor relations committee and Billy [Hunter, head of NBA Players Association] having brought in his executive committee, it's time to make the deal," Stern said Thursday to the media.

"If we don't make it on Tuesday, my gut -- this is not in my official capacity of canceling games -- but my gut is that we won't be playing on Christmas Day." Traditionally, since at least 2004, the NBA would hold one to two marquee games on Christmas Day, featuring teams with star power and championship aspirations. Stern certainly doesn't seem optimistic that will happen this season -- if there even is a season.

I hope the season is suspended and those jocks can go work at burger king. they want to make more so that what? we can pay even more to come see there games? don't need to watch their game, don't need to buy their tennis shoes, don't need to buy jordon's underware. like anything an athlete endorses means jack to me. Maybe sports should end after college

you have a top boss who has RIGGED the league since day 1 of his job and expect him to think he has enough. QUIT WATCHING ALL BIG SPORTS and spend your money elsewhere.

It's a boring game.I'd rather watch reruns of old TV shows or pro-football games.

...basketball is hopelessly, numbingly boring...one saving grace is that now there isn't any basketball on the tube, making more airtime available for intelligent programming...

I think they might be in for s rude awakening if they remain locked out to the point that they have to cancel a season. The fans will find something else to occupy the time they would've been following NBA games. And whenever the lockout ends, they'll have to do something to ramp up interest in the sport again.Much like baseball had the race between Mark McGwire and Sammy Sosa to break the single season home run record!

why don't we pay them middle-class salary during the lock-out to remind them of what they're missing out on. then maybe they'll appreciate having two commas in their paycheck.

Meant to click yes... Poll must have shifted as I moused over or the Vodka kicked in. Players with Million Dollar Contracts crying that they want more 'cause they have to feed their family... ignoring the fact that many teams/franchises don't earn a profit. 50/50 was a fair and perhaps generous offer for most folks, just not the Players Association I guess.

This is a popular game where any player can be a star & make fantastic moves. Typically, teamwork is of the utmost importance when an opposing team decides to put the practice skills into play to win. Otherwise, it is an opportunity for a super jock to emerge. I hope the players don't get fed up and leave the game at some point. Hockey used to be good but they bloody each other too much. I'll stick with B ball & football. are you ready for the basketball

I'm sick of prima donna athletes who are making 100s of times more than your average citizen whining and complaining about money and more benefits. More and more professional games look like thug matches anyway. As each professional league does this kind of crap, I move to the colleges and watch them instead. I won't miss professional basketball either.
