At least one analyst thinks Apple may have a tough time selling the iPhone and the iPad next year. UBS analyst Steven Milunovich lowered his iPhone sales expectations for 2013 by 5 million for each of the quarters ending in March, June and September, according to CNET. He also lowered expectations for the iPad, dropping the estimates for each quarter by 2 million units.

A 200 dollar drop in share price recently along with an attempt to eliminate competition in the courts rather than with products at competitive prices would seem to indicate this to be the case.

When I have a choice to get wonderful specs like SIII why I would pay double the price for lower specs like iphone?!

It has been for a few years. Apple set the standard and others are topping it now. And at a price much cheaper to us.

Dell & Apple are for the computer business what FORD was for the auto bussioness. They have to realise one thing, that they don't hold a monopoly in the industry , that's what makes it great.

(Speaking on mobile devices), I personally prefer Android to iOS now. I used to like the iPhone, but it just feels so dated now. Even Windows Phone is changing things up to make gains. Apple, on the other hand, is staying true to what's been tried, and it's unfortunately getting stale.

Every tech company follows a predictable pattern. They have the novelty phase, then a rise to power, a few years at the pinnacle, and then falling back to earth. The tech cemetery is filled with gravestones of companies that never had a second chance. Apple is one of the few that has been up and down the roller coaster more than once.

You can tell the honeymoon is over when the company willfully disappoints its customers in order to squeeze the last drops of milk from a cash cow. All major tech companies have done this at one time or another.

In Apple's case, they obsoleted the dock connector on IOS devices, devaluing millions of aftermarket accessories. Then they prematurely targeted certain MacBooks and iMacs for early obsolescence by non-supporting their video chips in Mountain Lion. The iMac situation is incredible when you think that they sell it as a computer built inside a monitor. When Apple decides 4 years is long enough for the product to live, no more OS upgrades. Rechargeable MacBook batteries are no longer user replaceable. Memory is soldered in, so there will be no upgrades. They are just begging the customer to look at alternative products. These are the things a company does when they expect to lose market share. The plan is to squeeze the remaining customers as hard as possible.

With the way the new IOS app store works/doesnt, and the stale and unaltered UI that is begging for a fresh look, I certainly hope so. Android and its open OS is the way to go, unless you get easily confused buy a customizable UI.

Perhaps this will bring down Apple prices. If they made an iPad that could take phone calls, they could have my iPhone 5. I really like the iPad.

The competition's getting fierce, but they have a good product and they'll be good at selling it for a while yet.

I definitely think it is. I think if Apple would wait longer between releases, instead of updating products every year (or less), they may have a better job selling them. I think people are suffering from "upgrade fatigue", as in they are tired of shelling out money every year or two for a new apple product. I am getting the 4S for Christmas, as it is way cheaper, and despite what Apple may say, it isn't obsolete. Now if Samsung would just stop acting childish, maybe I would get a Galaxy S instead.

It's funny that they sued Samsung after they came out with a better smart phone. I guess they can't handle some competition, can they?

If it ain't already, then it will be soon. It's imparative that Apple and all other
remaining technology development companies out there remain on their toes,
    if they're to stay alive.

IPhones have become old news, so to speak. They're no longer the best thing out there, and haven't been for awhile. People are under the impression that they are because everybody's got them.

I never bought any Apple products because they are overpriced. As the economy shrinks fewer consumers will be able to pay the premium to own Apple products.

I hope Apple is not going down hill, because i have a little stock. There does seem to be a lot of competition out there, but from what I hear the competition cannot compare in every way with Apple.

I love my original Blackbook and my current Macbook Pro and my little green chromatic nano... and I wouldn't even be opposed to getting an iPhone at this point either, just to have all my electronics on the same platform... however, Apple's ideas aren't "new" anymore... they're just updating the same product over and over at this point, and it's extremely apparent that they need a truly unique idea to keep the "reign" they have over the electronics world.

And Apple is getting sloppy. I heard they now put Google Maps on their iPhones because Apple Maps is so damn crappy that nobody wants it even if it's free.

Yes but the competition is still chasing Apple. Their products just "do it " better. Can they continue to do that without Jobs is the question. One thing is for certain, Competition will only make ALL phones better.

Apple has always served up overpriced, pay per use garbage and they are becoming well known for it. News flash guys, Android (Google) does twice as much, costs half as much and the real shocker... many of the cool apps are free *gasp*

Companies are offering just about everything Apple has (minus the product compatability), but without the MASSIVE price mark-up.

    new iPhone? at least $400.
New Galaxy/Windows/Amsung phones with mostly the same and even better features? Like <$200.

Especially with it's weak $150 screen glass, that one drop and it's done for. My old samsung is still kicking and first have a single scratch thanks to a $10 protector u bought. my younger sister got the new iPhone and within 2 Weeks the screen (extra tough according to Apple) broke when she dropped it. With no insurance or warranty at $500+ is way to much especially now that ppl can easily download apps iPhone is not especial anymore.
