Is the Broadway Production of 'Spider-Man' Cursed?

Someone's spider-senses are out of whack at "Spider-Man: Turn Off the Dark," a Broadway musical scored by U2. The play hasn't even officially opened yet, and it already has four major injuries on record.

"Spider-Man" was nearly forced to delay some of its preview showings this week to investigate safety measures after actor Christopher Tierney, who plays Kraven the Hunter, fell off of a 30-foot platform in front of a shocked audience.

The New York Times reported Tuesday that Tierney was in serious condition, but because the injury was discovered to be due to "human error," all performances will continue as scheduled.

The production has had problems from day one. In October, news got out that two performers had sustained major injuries -- a dancer with two broken wrists, and an actor with two broken ankles.

If that's not a red light, we don't know what is.

Then earlier this month, during the show's very first preview performance, the actress who plays Spidey's main enemy, Arachne, was put out of commission for several days after being hit in the head with a rope.

Maybe somebody is running around backstage whispering "Macbeth."

What do you think, curse or coincidence?

it's like the guys who play superman. they become the role and suffer for it. I believe everyone who has played Superman has has a tragic event. we are a gullable species and with our overactive imaginations we can be our own worse enemy.

every square inch of follywood is cursed with drugs, disease and death. these are the lucky ones.

This is Broadway, not Hollywood. The two are totally different. That's why this production is cursed, because Broadway actors usually keep it together.

maybe you'd be MORE famous if you concentrated on your "follywood" career as opposed to this page. as far as screaming you can go scream "STELLLLLLLLLAAAAA for all i care.

good advice but we are a species that slows down at accidents looking for blood, and ticket sales are way up for the performance. Money will always win against common sense.

"Danger love, her sole fits him like a glove
Mutated DNA turned him into a spider bug
Everyone in trying to squish him live a bug
he is just after any sort of thug".

    J-Rod.

If the Spiderman show is cursed, I just removed it. If I could do so.

    "Go Spidey Go
he fights the bad guys by keeping in the know
His love for MJ goes from head to toe
It keeps him on the move
Their love is nex to perfect but it is always something he tries to impove".

J-Rod likes the Bug ; LOL

As there is no such thing as a curse, it is, of course, merely a series of unfortunate mishaps. However, it should be cursed. As should ever other banal Disney, comic book and, especially, jukebox musical. What's next, "Jersey Shore The Musical?"

I say coincidence because there is no "OVER AMBITIOUS PRODUCTION." There was no way the producers could have pulled that off without many mishaps. The producers will be dam lucky if there is no more major setbacks. I would have liked to see it succeed but I'm afraid they are going to lose their ass. I hope I'm wrong.

There are some shows like "Cats" or any other Broadway shows
that are made for Broadway. I could not imagine Spiderman on
stage. I really wouldn't buy a ticket to see it.

Only really, really good special effects can defy gravity.
