All the old, classic artists are rolling in their graves at the people we have these days who are entertainers.

I think people who are envious of her success want to create some false definition of what an artists is. There are plenty of artists out there who use song writers. Rhianna is being scrutinized why? because she doesn't write songs. That would make her a song writer, not an artist. She is a vocal artist, she can dance to no end, and she can put on an amazing performance. How is she not an artist? And who the hell are "The Vaccines" or "Freddie Cowan"... HATERS, that's who.

Songwriters depend on the artist who doesnt write their own music. If she can sing without auto tune (I don't know since I don't listen to her music) then she's an artist.

She is a performer, there's a big difference. Nothing wrong with being a performer, but singing songs doesn't make you an artist.

I say no, but actually there are many other so called artists who have a whole team of people writing and producing their material. Many classic singers we know have never written a lyric in their careers. However, I treat Rihanna's case differently, along with Britney Spears, Ke$ha and the like because I have yet to see any evidence of talent on Rihanna's part.
She may not write or produce. Okay. Can she sing live. NO. Does she putt in genuine artistic input into her music videos? NO.
And this woman claims she is the black Madonna. Bitch, please. Madonna writes songs. She can dance. She can sing live. She has concepts for her videos, even if a lot of them are sex.
Personally, I prefer bands, becuase they make a collaborative effort to write the maajority of their songs and to produce them as well.
