Russian President Vladimir Putin stunned high-level officials Wednesday by proposing restrictions on their ability to possess Western bank accounts and own real estate abroad.
Putin, in his first state-of-the-union speech since returning to the presidency, focused largely on domestic issues, saying that fighting corruption is one of the key priorities of his third presidential term and that Russia should look for guidance in its own history.

Besides, Western banks aren't the most reliable places for Russian mafia money anymore. Most of their illegal profits are currently parked in Cypriot bank accounts, and Cyprus is one of the most troubled Eurozone countries right now. Their banks are desperately hoping for an EU bailout which is unlikely to happen. Of course Putin wants to prevent those precious mafia earnings from going up in smoke when Cyprus banks float belly up.
He lives in the land of communism and he somehow massed a fortune worth 44 billion
I doubt he saved up his rations
But I would assume he is just as bad or worse as any other politician, especially considering the number of times he's reassumed power.
Also I don't think he cares to be an ally with the US, not that I can really blame him.
