When you think of New York City, what images come to mind? I'm guessing most people don't pair NYC with cowboy hats, pickup trucks and BBQ stains on white t-shirts -- but the times, they are a-changin'.
A Nielsen/SoundScan report revealed that as of last year, New York City has the highest country music sales, beating out Nashville by 20 percent. In fact, Nashville, which many would expect to be the country music capital of America, ranked sixth in sales... even Los Angeles sold more! What do you think: Is NYC the new capital of country music?

Perception: New Yorkers don't cotton to country music. Reality: So-called city slickers buy more country albums than any other town in America. Yes, you read that right.

more people scampering around than some entire states. But the Capital of Country Music? Give me a break! It's always been, and always will be the South, mainly Nashville,
Tenn. The only guys wearing Cowboy hats in NYC is the IMan, and that goon in the White, weathered briefs, singing. Next thing we're going to see in NYC, are a bunch of
"Karn Ball" Randy Travis wannabees.
Rock is gone to history, Rap is an abomination to music, and nobody is making that much pop music or other types of modern categories of music, Lady Gaga and Katy Perry, Really?
Classical is always been around but not that popular since the renaissance. Ha…. Lol.
I would have never believed NY City would out buy country music over the other states, but there is more population (12 mil) in just the city than any of the popular country music states.
I am from New York City and I was born and raised there before moving to Florida. To tell the truth, I don't blame them for turning to country music although I am a not a fan of country music. I hate most of today's Pop and Rap music and it lacks creativity and quality. That is why I stopped listening to Rap and Pop music.
P.S. NYC is full of redneck wannabes. I know because I am from there.
I have seen some redneck wannabes in New York though and I just hate looking at it though.
Not everyone in New York is a redneck wannabe. Just some of them are and I hate that.
Gee and DUH maybe just maybe NYC has a Much LARGER population then Nashville. stupid poll, why don't folks use common sense
