Cycling legend and seven-time Tour de France champion Lance Armstrong has long denied charges of using performance-enhancing drugs, specifically blood doping. Even with a number of his old teammates failing drug tests and claiming otherwise to the U.S. Anti-Doping Agency, Armstrong has still denied. Unfortunately for the cancer survivor and inspirational leader of the 'Livestrong' movement, perception is reality and either this is a witch hunt -- or enough smoke to explore the fire.
"I have never doped, and, unlike many of my accusers, I have competed as an endurance athlete for 25 years with no spike in performance, passed more than 500 drug tests and never failed one,” Armstrong said via a statement on his official website. “That USADA ignores this fundamental distinction and charges me instead of the admitted dopers says far more about USADA, its lack of fairness and this vendetta than it does about my guilt or innocence.”
Armstrong is charged with taking testosterone and participating in blood doping, but he can stand trial and defend himself against those allegations. Yet if he loses, he will be stripped of all seven of his Tour de Frances titles and could even be subject to a government investigation, much like baseball legend Roger Clemens is. Not to mention the fact that if found guilty, it would break the hearts of hundreds of thousands of fans who supported him. This is only just the beginning though, so stay tuned. Do you think Lance Armstrong is innocent?

- TruBluTopaz 2012/06/16 03:29:49No+1But the drugs he used weren't performance enhancing.....BTW, my son, who works in a high end bike store overheard this from a customer "Trekker is the best brand of bike because Neil Armstrong rides it.".....You can't make this stuff up.reply

That is GOLDEN!!! Yeah, Barry Hinault, Leroy Fignon, Gary Lemond & Mark Indurain were pretty good riders too, weren't they?!!!reply - TruBluT... Matt Fo... 2012/06/16 13:27:19
But Neil Armstrong was an astronaut......reply - Parah S... TruBluT... 2012/06/17 03:12:17
+1Psst..you're talking to a blonde...reply - Matt Fo... Parah S... 2012/06/17 06:24:10
+1Psst...rather than repeating myself, just read the explanatory response that I just provided to the OP... PS. I can change my hair colour anytime but it'd be much more difficult - & costly - for you to alter your face!!reply - Matt Fo... TruBluT... 2012/06/17 06:22:14
I'm well aware of that!! And I thought you also followed cycling, in which case I listed four other great TDF cyclists, all with intentionally incorrect Christian names...should have been BERNARD Hinault, LAURENT Fignon, GREG Lemond & MIGUEL Indurain, rather than what I wrote as a JOKE that I thought you would get!!reply - taitaFa... Matt Fo... 2012/06/17 01:25:39
Eddie 'the cannibal' Mercyx (Belgium) won the Tour De France 5 times before bikes had index shifting and Miquel Indurain (Spain) won the Tour 5 times before there were carbon framed bikesreply - Matt Fo... taitaFa... 2012/06/17 06:33:34
Well aware of both of those points...re: Merckx (you spelt his name incorrectly), I decided to only go as far back as the 80s, rather than the 70s...& I have NO IDEA what your point is re: Indurain!! The point of my post was to follow on from the "Neil" Armstrong error that Tru BluTopaz mentioned in his/her funny story, by naming the other four cyclists with equally incorrect Christian names...& BTW, Bernard is the ONLY cyclist in history to win all three Grand Tours more than once, so IMO he's the greatest before Lance...but I know plenty about Eddie "the Cannibal" too...in fact, he was the first guy to tell Armstrong (pre-cancer) that he was too heavily built to ever succeed in the mountain stages & needed to drop some bulk, which is what the cancer helped to do...cheers...reply - taitaFa... Matt Fo... 2012/06/17 21:39:50
thanks for the correct on merckx. I mention Indurain to show it is possible for a single champion to dominate the sport for a number of years. 'The Train' Indurain was considered a 'big/ guy and in fact did not dominate in the mountain stages but made his bones everywhere else in the races. The notion by some that Armstrong could have not dominated is incorrect. It is improbable maybe, but not incorrect. Lance is just the most famous name right now associated with the sport that goes back almost 100 yrsreply - Matt Fo... TruBluT... 2012/06/17 06:53:00
Ps. And the bikes are named Trek, not "Trekker"...reply - Steven Carr 2012/06/16 02:42:21Yes+3leave the guy alonereply
- S and S 2012/06/16 02:27:56Yeswho cares? he's an athlete that rides a bike and stuff.... what does he do to improve this country? I really could care less if he $hits steroids.reply

+2Armstrong is one of the strongest voices in cancer research and donates gobs of money for the ill, youth groups and training organizations thru Livestrong.com. There are many who are alive because of him and his organization and give a good godd*amn what happens to him.reply - S and S taitaFa... 2012/06/17 01:32:00
I know that he gives back a lot but still WTF cares if he's juiced or not.. I could care less... the point is, why is this such a big story when there's 100's of terrorists running around the US blowing up buildings and putting the blame on foreign groups???? get the point.reply - taitaFa... S and S 2012/06/17 01:36:30
because there is more than 1 news story and living in fear lets the terrorists win - foreign and homegrown.reply - S and S taitaFa... 2012/06/17 01:41:24
so instead of reporting and taking action against real problems, we are suppose to worry about a guy riding a bike, a guy that hits a baseball, a guy that sings (pretty well) a gal that screwed a billionare then died of a drug overdose, a gal that keeps ending up in rehab, etc.... these are way more important news stories than the people Obama's thugs killed to win his first election, more important than Obama's directive to shut down 51% of the countries power generation system.reply - taitaFa... S and S 2012/06/17 04:42:49
repeat, there is more than 1 story unless you're ADDHDreply - Matt Fo... S and S 2012/06/17 06:56:32
Quick off-topic question for you...why do Americans always say "could care less", when the expression is COULDN'T CARE LESS, as in I couldn't possibly be less interested, whereas what "you guys" say means that you COULD be less interested than you are...just doesn't make any sense, that's all...reply - Cornball Matt Fo... 2012/06/17 14:57:40
Because expressions can change over time. It doesn't have to make since, most people know what you mean.reply - Matt Fo... taitaFa... 2012/06/17 07:02:15
Absolutely correct & superbly put...Long Live Lance the Legend!!!reply - Parah S... S and S 2012/06/17 03:14:15
+2What does he do to improve this country? Maybe he inspires America's fat-ass little rat bastard kids to get off their chubby bee-hinds and EXERCISE! We cannot allow their fitness regimen to depend ENTIRELY on running away from scout leaders and priests...reply - Ashley 2012/06/16 02:06:08YesUntil evidence says otherwisereply
- charles nelson 2012/06/16 01:41:22NoCommon sense may apply here ..... Legalize doping, or thats the other question.reply

- Duane Freemantle 2012/06/16 00:23:01 (edited)YesGuilt can only be proven though the courts. However, there will be no surprise if he is found guilty.reply
- dragonfliez 2012/06/16 00:14:28YesI picked Yes because It Doesn't Matter. Drugs should not be illegal. If it's a matter of unfair advantage in competition, then they should simply test all participants. One and done, shut up. So sick of all this everybody too up in everybody's else's business and trying to cause the producers of the world trouble...while they produce nothing...so nothing good gets done and we all sit here in squalor and spew on the internets because that's all that's left to do and the wifi is free. !!!reply
- BB 2012/06/16 00:06:18YesIn this country you are innocent until proven guilty...reply
- Magicman 2012/06/15 23:50:14YesHe was one step ahead of drug-testing technology year after year. Athletes who get "busted" do so because they go off their program and use at the wrong time resulting in a positive test. To go back now and test old samples is a waste of time and resources.reply
- Hockey 40 2012/06/15 23:42:19 (edited)Yes+2Yes, but people are very jellious of Lance Armstrong.
reply - klausd11 2012/06/15 23:00:58YesHe is innocent, until proven guilty.reply
- M. Aronson 2012/06/15 22:57:09NoI hate that I had to vote YES or NO on this one. I heard, years ago, that his lungs and heart operate at almost a superhuman level, way more efficient than those of "mere mortals" like us. On the other hand, I heard yesterday that he's not going to continue fighting these charges, which sends a very bad message if he is truly innocent...reply
- BB M. Aronson 2012/06/16 00:12:59
+3Michael Phelps is double jointed in his hips, knees, sholder, and elbows, his resting heart rate is 22 and his lungs are almost twice the sixe of the average person. My point is that some athleats are just built for there sport. He is also not going to continue fighting these charges because he has been fighting them for over 25 years and there is still no proof! Only pissed off Frenchmen because an American has the audacity to beat them in there event.reply - bill BB 2012/06/16 18:00:18

+1Make the USADA prove that hes guilty, if they can't prove it they need to take a hike and find someone else to screw over. I beleive he is innocent.reply - James H... bill 2012/06/16 23:17:30
