Is Lamar Odom's NBA Career Over?

What a difference a season or two makes. Lamar Odom was riding high as a member of the Los Angeles Lakers. He was a major part of two NBA Championship teams. He even won Sixth Man of the Year, for most valuable player coming off the bench. Now Odom is inactive the rest of the season with the Dallas Mavericks -- and his NBA career is in jeopardy. Wait — what?

Odom was traded to the defending NBA Champion Dallas Mavericks this season. It was a move that was supposed to give the Mavericks depth and another scoring threat, considering Odom's credentials and the fact he played on the same Lakers team Dallas eliminated last postseason. Surely, the Mavericks figured having a former key Lakers player would only help their chances should they meet Kobe Bryant and company in the playoffs. It was a good idea on paper. On the court? Another story.

After posting career-low numbers and the defending champs overall underachieving this season, the decision was mutually made by the Mavericks and Odom to part ways. Technically, Odom is still part of the team, but he is inactive the rest of the season. Unfortunately for him, his hopes to play again this season are out the window because even if a team traded for him, he'd be ineligible for the playoffs.

Whether it's personal problems (such as his rumored split with famous wife Khloe Kardashian), injuries we don't know about, or a little bit of both, there are enough signs based on media reports that the Odom we all knew from the Lakers' championship teams may never return. When Odom was traded from LA, he admitted he was heartbroken. Whether his heart was ever in Dallas is up for debate. Do you think Lamar Odom's NBA career is over?

At least, I hope not. He is a good player but way too emotional. He needs to get his act together and maybe find a team that will be a little patient with him. The Lakewrs could really use him back but I fear that door is closed forever. Too bad, he is a good guy.

I understand he's had a lot to deal with, but I don't think there's a team out there willing to take a chance that this could happen again. Too fragile in my opinion.

Odom was a great player, but that was five years ago, and time marches on. What is he now, about 38? Tom Heinsohn retired at age 30. It's time for Jason Kidd and Ray Allen to call it quits as well. Same for Baron Davis and a handfull of others. It ain't over 'till it's over, but IT'S OVER.

Aw hell naw. Lamar is just kitty-whipped. He needs to stop drooling over Khloe and get his head together. It would also help if he closed the door on the Laker's. He would fit in nicely with the Clippers, the Knicks, the Celtics, or Orlando.

No I don't think so, but then proffessional athletes are supposed be used to mind games and have the ability to overcome such obsticles. He won't have anything to worry about as he cal fall back on his tv royalties. I mean come on. Why should he worry about his career? He can make million by doing absolutly nothing, just being married to a Kardashian and being on tv? That is money in the bank...LOL

He's a Lakers through-and-through, he'll be back. With him as a sixth man he would be a great strength to the current Lakers team.

He is still laughing all the way to the bank for doing a few months with the Mavericks. He'll be picked up by another team (may not be the right town for the Kardashians, however).

The "K" kurse strikes again! You can't have it both ways. When an athlete gets with a celeb, more famous or in this case notorious, than they are, they are screwed. Has happened so many times, and usually ends in a split, divorce. Watch, the Khloe' & Lamar Reality Divorce Show, coming up after this commercial.

He may play for some team again, but he's shown what an incredible mental wuss he is and utterly unprofessional. He essentially quit on the Mavs and got paid 8.9 million for doing it.

The casket hasn't been closed, but the undertaker is standing over it and the nails are in hand. His career is teetering on the edge of complete collapse at this rate.

He could still play with the Charlotte Bobcats, but then Khloe K. would overrule his decision, no other team will take him, he'll be forced to retire and head back to La La Land, he will mope around the house with nothing to do (kinda like what Kris Humphries did in Kim K's house when the NBA was going through the lockout), Khloe will get frustrated at him for not leaving the house and tell him to get a job, and then she will throw him outta the house and divorce his ass for millions. Kris and Lamar will then get together for a beer and wonder why they ever hooked up with the Kardashian clan.

Actually, Khloe' is the only attractive one! She seems more real than her much darker sisters. She wins most polls about that. She is my favorite, but their momager is a greedy life ruiner.
