In a recent poll conducted by Forbes.com and Yahoo! Sports, New Jersey Nets power forward Kris Humphries was voted one of sports' most hated athletes. Likewise, in similar polls done by media outlets, Humphries was voted as the NBA's most hated player -- ahead of LeBron James and Kobe Bryant. Why is Humphries more hated than Ben Roethlisberger, Plaxico Burress, and almost as much as Michael Vick, when he hasn't been linked to serious, disturbing crimes?

Two words: Kim Kardashian. Humphries dated, got engaged, and married Kardashian, who's most famous for....well, her assets and a certain sex tape. Humphries should have seen the warning signs: a woman that is desperate for attention, puts all her business in public only to claim she wants privacy, broadcasts her life on a reality show, etc. Humphries didn't get the memo, as he claims he was in love. Well, that bond of love called marriage lasted less than three months.

Unfortunately for Humphries, he not only had his now-ex-wife seek divorce after just 72 days, but now he has to watch his failed marriage play out on TV as part of her reality show "Keeping Up With The Kardashians." Humphries has since taken Kardashian to court -- not for money -- but for the truth to come out, though the damage may already be done to his reputation.

His critics call him dumb, clueless, and clumsy. Humphries is saying he's just a good guy that got duped and is unfairly edited on his ex-wife's show. What do you all think? Is Kris Humphries, who is a solid NBA player, simply misunderstood or does he deserve all the flak he's getting?

okay, he had to agree to be on the show. He didn't fall off a turnip truck, he knew about the type of show it was the type of people they are, and to now claim otherwise is immature. I don't understand why he is the most hated in sports (I know nothing about sports), but if the sports world would rate him according to what he's done in his personal life then it's a stupid poll anyway so he shouldn't care.

He went nto that marriage thinking he could comtrol her and bully her family & friends & treat them like crap. He told KK bfor they got married that he aupported her career & after the marriage he expected her to give up her life & wanted to comtrol her. Russel Brand & Katy Perry had more momey at stake & a higher profile couple & theyre able to swttle tbeir divorce. KK & KH were marriwd a fractiion of the time w/a prenup. What is he trying to prove? Hes trying to keep himself nn the public eye. He has hurt his own image.

Perhaps Kris is misunderstood, but let me tell you Khloe is not the only one that saw Kris as being indifferent, cocky and a little arrogant. I think there's a possibility that he was misunderstood where his relationship with Kim is concerned, I really don't think that he knew how to deal with her, so he ended up irking everybody. I knew from jump street, that the relationship between he and Kim wasn't going far. In spite of the fact that Kim is a brat, he didn't help matters with his attitude.

A bit hard for me to sympathize. I think he was dumb to fall for it. There's signs if the person isn't really into you. You think she would have said yes or gotten involved with you in the first place if not you being an athlete or someone with status or money? She's superficial and he probably is too if he was fooled into thinking it was love.
