Is It OK to Be Weird? (Katy Perry Thinks So)

Katy perry is not weird she just like every other pop star
So she sometimes dyes her hair colors
That dosent make her weird

But she says that she's weird. She doesn't think it's a bad thing, she doesn't have a problem with it. In fact, she embraces it.

Well, weird is a pretty broad term. You can just be different in subtle ways, which I think is good. We are all individuals and it is nice to be yourself and not have to be like everyone else. Like when I wear a fancy sari at a restaurant and no one else is, most people like it but they still act like it is weird and I do not think it is. I think women have become too casual and forgotten how to dress nice or are just too lazy to do so. It is normally the men who comment and like it. Of course, I am not dark, exotic and beautiful like the East Indian women are, who traditionally wear them, but I still love them and will wear them even if people think I am strange. Now, then you also have really far out behavior which I struggle with but then again, there are so many examples, each case has to be judged on it's own degree of weirdness. I think so long as it is not harming anyone else, to each his own.

Ofcourse it's ok, this is America. However, how you audience takes to your wierdness can be a factor. She seems to be riding a high.

It's very common for people to believe they are weird or different from everyone else. It's that belief that we are different from everyone else that we have in common. ;-) In reality, we have much the same dreams and desires in our core.

We want to love and be loved.

Katy claims to be weird as a way to be modest about herself and her accomplishments because everyone else who feels that they are weird or different (nearly 100% of young people) have an icon to look up to. They think, "She is one of us!!"

The little I've seen of her, she seems perfectly normal to me. Wearing costumes on stage or in videos doesn't make a person weird. It's schtick or branding.

Weird is a term that is often used by people who haven't been anywhere. If you've travelled or lived outside your own country, you realize that things are just different.

That's so true! I think a lot of the time, we assume that our perception of things is the ONLY perception.

There are many different levels of weird. Weird and funny are okay, but weird and creepy are not. You know when you've got a creepy guy hanging around that makes everyone uncomfortable, and people say, man is that dude weird. That's not a good weird and I would not want to be labeled that way, but being goofy and weird, and basically harmless to others, like my wife always says I am, seems to be okay.

It is absolutely fine to be weird... However, Katy Perry is NOT weird. She is a one woman publicity stunt. People come to see the oddball, and will pay to see the oddball. Think about it: Would Katy Perry have NEARLY the following she does if not for her "weirdness"? Would Lady Gaga? These two are not genuinely weird. They are just a new spin on an old tactic of salesmenship.

Yes, but Katy Perry has nothing to do with that. She's far more than just weird; she's a bizarre freak show on two feet.

Weirdness is in the mind of the beholder, perceiver, doer, receiver etc.



How in the world do you define "weird"?? As long as that does not mean that down deep inside you are harboring a desire to kill someone, maim someone or hurt someone else in any way. Weirdness sounds like you could apply it to being a psychopath. Being a psychopath is not a good quality.



If you have issues and feel that you are being "weird" about something, maybe, just maybe, you should go see a psychologist AND a psychiatrist. Get help from professionals.



Katy Perry and Lady Gaga BOTH are playing on the latest marketing & PR stunt which is to emphasize that "Weird is Okay", its okay to be strange, I was "Born This Way".

Exactly! Everyone is different, and everyone is weird in their own way, so there is no set definition of the stereotypical "normal".

I'd think someone who persists in being "vanilla" has some 'issues' to deal with.

It is weird to be normal. Nobody is really "normal". Be yourself. Above any other thing you may strive to be, your self is the one thing you were born to be!

It's better than being plain old run of the mill. I don't like "average" or "normal" people they are boring & most don't seem to have their own opinion about anything.

Weirdness is subjective. And besides, it's not like she's the weirdest celeb out there. Just look at her husband.

I don't think there's really such a thing as being "normal" or "weird." Everyone is different. But yes it's perfectly fine to be weird. HOWEVER, I think Katy Perry is trying way too hard to be weird. You shouldn't have to try to make everyone think you're weird by shoving it down people's throats. It should just occur without effort.

How weird is weird? A little weird is good and can make life interesting. A lot weird is strange and you may need some counseling. People in Austin, Texas think weird is good.

I can't help but feel but that what defines my personality in more ways than I can imagine. Katy Perry is no doubt different but hey, I'd prefer her weirdness more over than Lady Gaga's any day.
