There’s no doubt about it: Katy Perry is weird -- and she wants everyone to know it. And while not every teenager is going to go out in the world wearing a light-up candy dress, they should find comfort in the fact that Katy Perry does. In a May interview with Entertainment Tonight, Perry equated her odd nature with being sexy. She remarked, “I think it's the weirdness [that makes me hot]. Maybe it's just that fact that I'm OK with being a geek.” And that is the secret that landed Katy Perry on Maxim’s Hot 100 List.

Whatever makes her weird, Katy Perry fans are connecting with her message. As one webcam devotee states at the beginning of the new movie “Part of Me 3D” about her idol, "She taught me it was OK to be weird." The message of course being that everyone should be themselves. In her uniqueness, Perry extends the notion to fans that if they are true to their own spirits, they’ll be originals just like her.
But this is a time when kids are being bullied for being different and the pressure to fit in is only reinforced by the popularity contests bred by social media. So even though deep down lots of kids might want to go to school in a carousel-skirted dress, it might be easier said than done. Do you think it's OK to be odd? Do you embrace your weirdness?

Hipsters.
Be yourself, if you're average, so what? iI you're a little quirky, even better.
We're all different. We're all weird. I read a chemistry book for fun, my friend spends most days on tumblr all day, and another friend is insanely vegan right now. Who's to say what's normal anyway. We're all a bit quirky.
