While at first the animal might seem to be an ideal companion, eventually their "wild" side dominates, and they need to be free in their own environment. Even if they stay friendly with their "keepers", you gotta wonder how happy they REALLY are in a confined lifestyle. Domestic animals, fine, wild animals, best to let them stay in their natural habitat!

not all animals can be tamed to behave. And certainly not all can be tamed not to try and eat you.

Our domesticated animals have become interdependant on us and we them in many cases. But a wild animal is still instinctive and no amount of petting and feeding will take that from them. Bambi was always cute, but would kill you when mature.

They are WILD animals folks. Their instincts don't change just because you think you have domesticated them. It's almost a certainty that your "pet" will turn on humans at some point in their lifetime. People are cruel to do this to a wild creature., and should be penalized for animal abuse.

Here's the story of Christian the lion, bought as a cub from Harrods of London, in 1969:

I cried my eyes out when I first watched a documentary about the same...

I honestly think it's the best way to illustrate that animals born free are always going to be much happier, and ultimately better off, in the wild.

I don't think it's fair to the animals to expect them to behave as tame when they are not. It's not only a disservice to the animal, but also a danger to the owner and his/her neighbours. I would have assumed there was a law of some sort to prohibit that. I would think you would have to have a refuge or zoo in order to have animals of that sort.

No, most end up having to be put down as they get older and are no longer"cute". Some are put back into the wild with no idea of how to survive, and starve or are killed rather fast.We do them no favor by taking them in, and in some cases even deplete their populations. Feeding wild birds is fine, but leave it at that.

No,,it is not fair to the animal. The only instance where it would be okay, IMHO would be in a rescue situation.

Wild animals need special care - the average person is totally unprepared to take care of such animals.

hence the `wild` animals tag.. its like that chimp who ripped that womans face off...you can tame animals to a certain extent but you will never rid them of their animal instinct..and when it boils down to it that will always win

If the people that own them can tame the animals so they wouldn't hurt anyone and keep them happy, it would be alright, but otherwise, no.
